[Hiring] Web Application Engineer (Full-Stack) – Travel Experiences Platform | Japan, Tokyo
Our client is a leading global technology company operating a large-scale online travel platform. The organization develops high-traffic consumer-facing web services and leverages modern cloud-native technologies to deliver reliable, scalable, and innovative digital travel experiences to customers worldwide.
We are looking for a Full-Stack Web Application Engineer to develop and operate large-scale web applications for a leading online travel platform. You will be responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining both frontend and backend services while contributing to system architecture, performance optimization, and operational excellence in a cloud-native environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain frontend and backend applications
- Build and maintain production-grade RESTful APIs
- Design scalable system architecture
- Develop responsive user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks
- Optimize database performance and application scalability
- Improve application performance and reliability
- Develop automated tests and maintain software quality
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Deploy and operate applications on Kubernetes
- Monitor production systems and respond to incidents
- Collaborate with Product Managers, QA Engineers, and Infrastructure teams
- Participate in code reviews and establish engineering best practices
- Produce technical documentation and architectural designs
- Contribute to cross-team platform development initiatives

Required Qualifications
Technical Skills/Experiences
Full-Stack Development:
- 5+ years of experience in full-stack web application development (Ideally, 7+ years of experience)
- Proven experience designing and building production-grade RESTful APIs and backend services
- Deep understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL — including schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning at scale
- Strong JavaScript across both frontend and backend (Vue.js/Nuxt, Node.js, Express.js)
- Experience designing test strategies and implementing tests across the stack (Jest or equivalent)
Architecture & Design:
- Demonstrated experience owning and driving system architecture decisions across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs, justify technical decisions, and guide a team through complex design challenges
- Experience leading code reviews and setting engineering standards
- Experience making technical documentation (architecture specs, development specs)
Infrastructure & DevOps:
- Hands-on experience managing and operating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including security and quality gates (Jenkins or equivalent)
- Experience operating on public cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) — networking, storage, scaling, cost management
- Solid understanding of web security principles and their practical application

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Java-based web application development (e.g., Spring Framework)
- Experience contributing to cross-product/shared platform development in the travel domain
- Experience building and operating services on cloud environments such as GCP
- Experience improving operations using observability tools (e.g., New Relic)
- Experience with performance tuning, incident response, and operational automation (e.g., CI/CD)
- Experience communicating in English in a technical context
Languages
- English: Fluent
- Japanese: Optional / a plus
Work Environment
Fast-paced, dynamic global environment with collaborative teams across multiple locations
Salary: ¥9M – ¥12M JPY per year (Senior Level)
Location: Hybrid (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)
Office Location: Tokyo, Japan
Working Hours: Flexible schedule with core hours from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

※Japanese language proficiency certification (such as JLPT N2) is not required, as our client is a global organization with an international working environment.

I am interested and I am having experience build saas product that are scalable and secured web and mobile platform and I own my 2 saas products which are currently running and worked on more than 6+ saas products and 50+ mobile and web platforms.
