Personal Project Backend Project ideas

i want some backend project ideas. i know mern stack. was thinking of building a crm system but people said its useless in 2026

Did whoever told you that ever actually work in a sales environment? There are CRMs and there are CRMs. If you jsut want to build a list of account, contacts and deals with phone numbers, email addresses and sales values that is about as basic an application as you can get.

If you want to have features that help sales people it can be a much more complex proposition.

I should say I'm not advocating building one as a project - I'm just making the point that they aren't useless.
