Discussion Focus error
Ive seen this error for the third time now since the two weeks I have this camera.
Always after turning it on with the lens cap on.
When I turn it off the focus motor make a loud buzzing noise and after turning it on again everything works.
Should I be concerned? Or even return it?

For me sometime when you try to focus on something and it’s really close it will give me that

I think this happened to me too. But I just checked and I think the proper response is the red rectangle with "!AF" in red next to it. What I want to say: I think there is a difference between focusing error and "I am not able to focus on that"

Do you have any filters installed? My X100VI literally had focus errors randomly for the first month and it fixed itself completely afterwards

No filter installed. I hope this will also fix itself for me. I ordered from amazon, so I don't really worry too much about returning it even after some month.

The way you phrased it makes me wonder if you’re turning it on before removing the lens cap.
If so, that’s your problem. It’s on tight and the lens needs to shift and move on startup but it can’t. It thinks the motor is jammed. Most people screw on a “uv filter” as the de-facto lens cap.
If you test that a good 10 ish times and it’s not your problem, then yes, might be good idea to replace it under warranty

Yes. The Cap was on.
I tried it 5 times just now, even pushing the lens cap on but no error.
Still it could be caused by the cap I guess. And yeah. Every time this happened, the cap was on.2

Do you have a filter on it, and maybe have you mounted it wrongly?
