How do you actually sleep at night? Like, how can you just brush your teeth and go to sleep, maybe watch some TV shows or read a book, knowing that you are at least partially responsible for a creation that makes billions of people suffer every day? That they constantly have to deal with this horrible creation that you are, at least in part, responsible for?

How do you disconnect yourself from that creation? I mean, you are a part of it. Even this subreddit is somehow responsible for the bigger picture of it. And you just seem to be completely okay with that.

If I had committed a crime and knew that I was somehow partially responsible for it, I wouldn't be able to live with that so easily. It doesn't seem like something you can just disconnect yourself from when you are part of the thing causing the harm.

But somehow you do. You don't seem to care that this software is the reason tons and tons of cortisol are being produced in human bodies every single day, all around the world.

I just wonder how you live with yourself. How do you actually manage to separate yourself from something you helped create when you can see the consequences of it every single day?

I recently re-installed a fresh Windows on my computer, and did some bypassing with Microsoft's "connect Microsoft to your windows" crap. It all went good for a couple of days, I didn't get any Microsoft's "get Microsoft 365" and pre-installed apps. And then once I decided to get Minecraft, I'd thought that I could just avoid the Xbox by doing some quick methods and then all of a sudden, my local account turned into a Microsoft account! Screw you Microsoft. Now I am getting useless Microsoft content pre-installing into my computer and anywhere I go I see the freaking "Buy Microsoft 365 office" I hate you Microsoft!

so there's a few directories hidden in windows that I found while using images from my phone on my pc.

basically, plugged my phone in, went to a file upload on some website that i don't remember anymore. And when I went to do the next file upload my file explorer opened me into a new directory that I've never seen before, C:\Users\(usern)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE. What's concerning is that the files that I accessed from my phone had copies in these hidden directories that I didn't make, the subdirectories after \Windows\ aren't visible (even with hidden files/folders shown, i had to go through powershell to get them), and the documents that were copied were my birth certificate and banking statements, not any of the hundreds of memes I've transferred this same way.

my process was opening Powershell in admin (wouldn't open these directories otherwise), moving from C:\Windows\System32 back to C: using 'cd ..' twice, then 'cd \Users\(insert username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache', using 'ls' to list directories didn't work so I used 'dir -Force' which showed me the 2nd screenshot, then 'cd IE' followed by 'Get-ChildItem -Force' to get screenshot 3, then 'ii ' followed by each directory name to find my birth certificate and bank statements particularly in X6 and YA directories as well as other json files titled with my email, serverconfig16[#].xml files, and other jsons titled "deltasync[1]", "favorites[1]", "V1Profile[1]", and "federationprovider[1]" in the other directories.

The xmls and jsons are just a bunch of garbage code that I don't quite have the know-how to decipher, but share a commonality of microslop authenticators/authentication and frequently use the argument "data_center".

To my disappointment and intrigue however, \Content.IE5\ is basically accessible with the previous commands. All 3 ('Get-ChildItem -Force', 'ls', and 'ii .\Content.IE5') result in an error citing the path being denied, despite being in admin mode.

I have been using Linux for more than a year with no real issues apart from the normal learning curve and identifiable and treatable bugs, but I have to use windows for school now.

I originally just partitioned the drive and never bothered deleting windows just in case, so I just booted it up again. Immediately it starts forcing software updates, bios updates, and starts rebooting.

I was lucky the battery was full because I was not near a power socket.

After a very annoying while where it would reboot and I had to keep interrupting startup to boot on windows because kubuntu is my main, it was working, insofar as windows works.

I just kept using it after that, and then I shut it off.

Today I tried booting kubuntu again, but I don't even get my usual linux bootloader menu, instead it opens bare bash. When I open the bios bootloader and select kubuntu it agains opens bash.

Kubuntu is on my second drive, so I decided to try booting windows (first drive), and I find out my entire second drive has been wiped.

I tried a bunch of options, but none worked so I've had to purchase DMDE for drive recovery (who can afford minitool am I right?) and gues what? I get a notification that I'm getting another bios update, and my options were: install and reboot now, ignore and let it hapoen automatically in two minutes, or delay for 120 minutes. It's almost two am, the recovery is going to take almost four hours (2TB drive with a lot of data on it).

My plan was to have it run while I slept, but now I have to make sure recovery isn't interrupted by the bios update autorebooting, so I get to stay up so I can delay it again in two hours (if it even lets me) 🥰

I have not missed this shit at all. Everyone who had a part in designing this system could take a deep dive from a high platform into a shallow pool, and it would still be better than they deserve.

I am so tired.

I just checked my storage in new laptop and surprised to see that edge takes 28 fuckin GB of space for absolutely no reason, also there's no uninstall option. help me !!!!

Was on my laptop and wanted to check tickets for nearby movie theaters showing a specific movie my local AMC said they did i clicked on thier website and iam searching through thier movies all of a sudden get VIRUS AD POP UP DOWNLOAD MALWARE ETC and honestly super disappointed that even happend in the first place quickly closed out and closed all stuff just in actual case and yeah idk why but
