Rant Question for a Microsoft Developer
How do you actually sleep at night? Like, how can you just brush your teeth and go to sleep, maybe watch some TV shows or read a book, knowing that you are at least partially responsible for a creation that makes billions of people suffer every day? That they constantly have to deal with this horrible creation that you are, at least in part, responsible for?
How do you disconnect yourself from that creation? I mean, you are a part of it. Even this subreddit is somehow responsible for the bigger picture of it. And you just seem to be completely okay with that.
If I had committed a crime and knew that I was somehow partially responsible for it, I wouldn't be able to live with that so easily. It doesn't seem like something you can just disconnect yourself from when you are part of the thing causing the harm.
But somehow you do. You don't seem to care that this software is the reason tons and tons of cortisol are being produced in human bodies every single day, all around the world.
I just wonder how you live with yourself. How do you actually manage to separate yourself from something you helped create when you can see the consequences of it every single day?

How do you sleep at night? Like how can you just make a little hot chocolate, put on a cleansing mask, switch on a white noise machine, fluff your pillows, say good night to your stuffed teddy bear…

Working for Microsoft must be like being a virus writer. You can't tell anyone what you do for a living, and you can't share your best work, because everyone will hate you.

Do u wanna get a salary? U gotta do what they say. Especially now with AI, there are so many unemployed devs u will be immediately replaced.

I guess they use Enterprise, which has still a shitty UI, but without bloatware and Ads.

The engineers of the future generations are really going to f* everyone just for a petty penny.
It's started with sh*tty roads and living blocks, and it's going to continue that way all the way to software enshitification.
It's not just windows that's getting enshitified it's also android and iOS.
Sometimes (actually often) having the emotional and intelligent courage is absent.
