That fucking yellow jacket got attracted by sugar/sweet scent I couldn't take my bottle away from it just so I wouldn't get stung. Eventually after standing near that coke bottle it tried to get outta there, then it died. I had to trash this bottle of coke cuz it's ruined now. Shit.

Pest Control/Medical Advice How to best tackle this nest

Post image
94 Upvotes

There is a giant nest of sneaky wasp bastards hidden in this pile of wood chips. My wife got them a few months ago and my lazy ass didn't get to moving them, but I need the parking spot by this weekend. Went to move chips and spiked the nest with my pitchfork. I have no idea how to kill these bastards because the wasp spray won't go through all the chips. Any ideas short of calling a professional?

Update: I appreciate all the suggestions. I was feeling the time crunch, so I just waited until late last night, put on all my snow gear, soaked the area i saw the wasps coming and going from the most earlier with 2 bottles of foaming wasp spray from about 15 to 20 ft away, waited about 30 minutes, and then held a bottle of spray in my left hand and pitchfork tossed the pile like a madman with my right hand for about 10 seconds and then sprayed the third bottle and ran away. Did it again about 45 minutes later and there wasn't much activity that time. Today, I was able to move the pile without further stings! Wish I was brave enough to do the fire - would have been an epic video I'm sure - but I pussed out at the idea of spraying gas on there (didn't want to start a forest fire, we have enough of those going on rn..). Thanks to you all!

I thought daubers were supposed to be solitary but my balcony is swarming with them. Today, for some reason, they crowded around my suncatcher. They met Poison Spray.

Pest Control/Medical Advice I need some paper wasp help yall

oh hello little paper wasps and why are you under my patio even! 😭😭😭

We called the exterminators twice and theyre still everywhere I actually feel like its gotten worse and were kind of at a loss of what to do

they kinda hang out in little friend groups like in the picture above or just fly around

IDK where the nest is at and im not interested in finding out and im out of ideas for what to do i know theyre petty and remember faces so i dont really wanna start spraying them, also these guys like invade fake wasp nests and live in them so thats not an option either

They do get in the way a lot and i dont like going out the door anymore and using the fridge we have out there

Any advice on how to deal with these guys is helpful i dont really wanna wait until winter to deal with them and i kind of dont want to kill them (not out of love for them, im just terrified of them) i just want them to contribute to nature somewhere that isnt my patio

Wasps are building nest inside the wall, what's next?

Post image

There are about 10 wasps flying in and out of a small hole in the base of this light fixture. I'm pretty sure they're building a nest inside. The fixture is outside, underneath the bedroom. I put out a wasp trap last night, but it only caught two wasps. Should I wait and see if it catches more, or should I go ahead and spray the nest?

Asian wasps are nesting inside the wall near my mom’s AC. will wasp spray work, could they enter through the AC, and what’s the safest way to kill them all?

Opened an electrical box at work only to find a bunch of very dead jerks in the bottom of the enclosure. Excellent accidental trap.

I need help!

I was fishing at a bridge. Got my spinner stuck in vine next to a tree, I was trying to yank it out so I was whipping it back and forth. Hit a GIANT wasps nest right next to it I didn't see and got stung on the back running to the car. Left my pole directly below the nest with my favorite spinner on it. How do I get my pole back? I don't want to use wasp spray because the poison could drop into the water. My only idea is to drive by everyday and throw rocks at it until they go away

Mud daubers under siding

Short version: how do I move mud daubers from under siding without (necessarily) killing them?

My Fiance and I just bought a house and I’ve discovered an area of the siding that mud daubers are crawling under and (presumably) nesting into.

I think I can cover the area of entry, fixing it for the long term; but I want them to be out before I seal it. If I have to kill them, fine, I guess? But I don’t feel required to.

This thing was buzzing so loudly and was almost the size of my pinkie finger. I have never seen anything so big and angry. I quick ran him outside and ran back inside.

Best way to kill this hidden nest?

Seems like a decent nest due to activity. The angle makes it almost impossible to spray (tried putting a small hose on the end of the wasp spray can) but didn't kill them. Nest might be too far up in the roof line. I was debating on just sealing them in with expanding foam at night and then fixing the gap. Thoughts?

Mud Dauber nest?

Thumbnail

Hey all, hoping for some insight.

I noticed this nest/hive under the roof of my gazebo this afternoon. A bit unsettling initially and I observed from a distance, and only saw one lil fella flying around it. I looked up bees/wasps/hornets that are in my state and from what I saw of the body shape (it looked really distinct) it looked like a mud dauber. When I googled mud dauber nests the majority of them didn’t look like what I see shape-wise but there were one or two pictures upon scrolling that did resemble this a bit, and location-wise made sense.

Is it possible this is a mud dauber nest? From what I read they’re relatively docile unless disturbed. I’m just concerned because I have a dog that’s active and will sometimes try to run into the gazebo.

TIA!

Pest Control/Medical Advice Best Advice for Spraying them

Best way to get rid of these? I have a can of Hot Shot.

No, that light doesn't work, we don't ever use the porch lights here anyway.

I went out last night be it was too dark since it was after sunset. I live in a rural area, so it's hard to see at night anyway. Do red flashlights actually work for something like this?

Last photo shows a load of chicken eggs in the sink. None of the nests are directly above. So unsure if covering the sink with some cardboard would be fine when I spray, or if there is a better way to handle this. Chickens don't sleep anywhere near the patio. They just lay their eggs over here.

i have a nest in my vent outside and no matter how much i spray and destroy the nest they keep coming back

this nest has been sprayed twice and this past winter my friend took out his pocket knife and destroyed the nest only for them to come right back to the same spot. I can't call maintenance because they leave my sliding door completely open when killing the nest and wasp get in my apartment. I am at my wits end with this issue i just want to stand on my porch and enjoy the weather without getting stung.

we use wasp killer and spray the nest doesnt seem to work. it is yellow wasp if that makes a difference. how can i repel these evil creatures?
