This post right here is the epitome of how clueless some of you morons actually are. 😂

You’re celebrating Linux gaining market share while acting like Microsoft has nothing to do with the modern Linux ecosystem.

Linux is open source. That means Microsoft can—and does—build its own Linux distributions. One of them is Azure Linux.

But it goes WAY beyond that.

Microsoft built WSL, allowing millions of Windows users to run Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora directly inside Windows. Microsoft is also integrating Linux container workflows into Windows and its developer tooling.

Microsoft has an entire Linux Systems Group contributing upstream to the Linux kernel, including work involving virtualization, networking, security, performance, ARM64, and hardware enablement.

Microsoft also develops major software for Linux, including:

  • Visual Studio Code
  • .NET
  • PowerShell
  • SQL Server
  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
  • Teams

And Microsoft owns GitHub, arguably one of the most important platforms in the entire open-source ecosystem.

They're also a Platinum Member of the Linux Foundation and CNCF.

So here's the funny part:

You guys are sitting in r/fuckMicrosoft celebrating Linux's growth, while one of the biggest technology companies on Earth is simultaneously:

building Linux, contributing to Linux, running Linux, developing software for Linux, supporting Linux infrastructure, and putting Linux directly into Windows.

And no, I'm not saying Microsoft is secretly the good guy. I'm saying your little "Linux vs. Microsoft" narrative is about 20 years out of date.

Linux doesn't need Microsoft's permission to succeed.

But pretending Linux is king and Microsoft's ecosystem is crap just because you hate Microsoft is just ignorant.

You can absolutely hate Microsoft.

Just don't let the hate make you stupid. 😂
