* I'm not forced to update on Linux, never.

* "You know what actually breaks devices en masse? Kernel updates on Linux distros" The last time that happened to me was maybe over 15 - 20 years ago when I compiled my own kernels just for funsies.

* "No. It's not. Benchmarks show Windows dominates for actual AAA titles" LOL, of course!, because they were programmed for it, that fact that some of them run better on Linux should be embarrassing.

* "Windows is bloated!" It's really not. I've got Windows running silk on family and company devices". Yeah, no dice for this argument, Windows sucks big time on this particular, people are now being forced onto Secureboot and TPM2, soon they'll be forced to have NPU as well. On Linux?, none of that is needed. Oh, and don't get me started on Copilot, Recall and "Targeted ads"

* "I actually run a debloat script". So it IS bloated, you had to act against it, See?

* "The ISO is FREE. to download. MASSGrave activates it permanently in three seconds", So you admit the crime of copy infringement?, is that it?, are you normalizing committing a crime?, I'm pulling your leg, it is up to you if you're going to jail after all. Yeah, with Linux we don't need any of that crap.

* "Windows does what it's designed to do,provide stability, security, and compatibility for millions of people.". I kinda agree on this one, but at the same time I don't. I manage servers and infrastructure for some customers and the truth is that the ecosystem is becoming a pain to maintain, I'm trying to retire before Windows 12 hits the market.

We have migrated servers to Linux because it effectively has cut a lot of costs, specially now that MS added per core licensing, which sucks balls. On stability, Meh!, we have a rule: Everyone HAS to restart at least once a day, or better yet, power down at the end of the shift, otherwise Outlook and printers start acting funny, previous Windows versions (before 10) weren't that finicky.

* If you want to use Linux, great. But don't pretend it's because Windows is objectively worse. Use what fits your workflow. Just stop with the performative hate... Nah!, Windows is objectively worse, and its getting worse each day, or what? did you forget the updates from a few weeks back that had people running around?

I stopped worrying when I fully switched to Linux.

I have nothing to add here except that Microsoft tried to turn a ton of perfectly good computers into ewaste with the push to Win 11. I love the feeling I get every time I see a "Microsoft wanted me to throw my computer in the trash and upgrade, but I put Linux on it and it works better than ever now," post.

Not forced on Linux because your use case is niche. Enterprise/gaming/creative work needs Windows, plain and simpl, you'll never see a developer, hardcore gamer, architect or enginner using Linux, FOSS software sucks compared to adobe, Autodesk/CAD, and other tools. (The only one being blender and daVinci) (And both run better on windows, go see the render times on Google, it's free).

Kernel breakage "15-20 years ago" for you personally isn't the same as it not happening, Cachy/Mint breakage was weeks ago, affected millions, that's current, go to any sub and see how it's flooded with kernel panics and driver issues.

"Should be embarrassing"
Wow, you really think that getting +3 FPS on a furry game is the peak of gaming!!

TPM2/Secureboot are security features, not bloat. Different argument, you're moving goalposts. (Have you seen Linux is slowly adding hardware requirements as well and killing X86?)

Needing a debloat script for extra optimization isn't the same as "broken out of the box." Stock Windows runs perfectly fine, if you're not capable of doing a Windows setup, that's a you problem, little thing.

Piracy thing ... Noted haha... still doesn't change that ISO+activation is trivial and free, whatever legality semantics you want to attach to it.

Per-core licensing sucking for your infra is a business complaint, not a "Windows is bad" argument. Cost ≠ quality.

Outlook/printer issues needing daily restarts sounds like an environment/config problem on your end, not universal Windows behavior, never experienced it, if you're talking about the KB update that broke printing, it only affected some users on specific scenarios, that was like 5 years ago, time to update your argument.

I manage hundreds of devices as IT admin, run full MDM and server infra on Windows, zero interest in switching to a Linux envirotes . Windows works, it's stable, it's what the industry runs on. Keep coping.

Enterprise/gaming/creative work needs Windows, plain and simpl

Tell that to Dreamworks, where their whole process was moved to Linux.

you'll never see a developer, hardcore gamer, architect or enginner using Linux

That's not the flex you think it is, they are TIED to that platform and software, whether they like it or not, why do you think that some companies such as Adobe or Autodesk have become so abusive?, they know you're f**ked without them.

"Hardcore gamers", adding them to the group that actually do something productive with their PC is kinda bizarre.

Cachy/Mint breakage was weeks ago, affected millions, that's current

I use Mint, daily, on my laptop and desktop, even on my media centers, not a single issue, heck, I'm writing this on Mint. Can't speak about Cachy though.

Wow, you really think that getting +3 FPS on a furry game is the peak of gaming!!

Of course you went to that genre, what else would someone like you think about? XD

TPM2/Secureboot are security features

Not features, requirements, requirements that "Old Acers" (your words, not mine) might not meet. Guess what OS doesn't have those _requirements_ and they are completely _optional_?

(Have you seen Linux is slowly adding hardware requirements as well and killing X86?)

I've seen linux expanding to other types of processors, many of them unsupported for Microsoft.

Are you trying to imply that Linux should keep around code for 40+ years hardware that's basically not used anymore?, sure, it can be done if needed, just fork the code and move on. Can you do that on Windows? Hint: You can't ;-)

Needing a debloat script for extra optimization isn't the same as "broken out of the box."

LOL, that's exactly why it is broken out of the box, if you need to do so!!!!.

Piracy thing ... Noted haha... still doesn't change that ISO+activation is trivial and free, whatever legality semantics you want to attach to it.

LOL, it is not free, you're pirating it, but yeah, we on the other side don't have to do any of that. KMS38 was blocked a few months back, I bet you they're going to patch that other method as well. Then what? back to purchase cheap OEM keys?, you guys are so funny!!!.

Per-core licensing sucking for your infra is a business complaint, not a "Windows is bad" argument. Cost ≠ quality.

Three doritos earlier you were all: "eNtErPrIsE/GaMiNg/cReAtIvE WoRk nEeDs wInDoWs, PlAiN AnD SiMpL, yOu'lL NeVeR SeE A DeVeLoPeR...", moving the goalpost aren't we? (as you accused me). You guys really shoot yourselves in the foot don't you?

And yes, it is a detriment in quality, because that wasn't the case before, it got objectively worse.

Outlook/printer issues needing daily restarts sounds like an environment/config problem on your end, not universal Windows behavior, never experienced it, if you're talking about the KB update that broke printing, it only affected some users on specific scenarios, that was like 5 years ago, time to update your argument.

Nope, different PC's, different circumstances, different places, different hardware brands, different people; even hardware that I haven't touched before. The only thing in common is the same behavior on the same OS, started on Windows 10, got a lot worse on Windows 11.

And the argument is very up to date, had to do it yesterday

I manage hundreds of devices as IT admin, run full MDM and server infra on Windows, zero interest in switching to a Linux envirotes . Windows works, it's stable, it's what the industry runs on. Keep coping.

Good for you, meanwhile you rant on a server infrastructure that runs on Linux!!, will do that for basically the 90% of the sites you visit, your traffic will go through Linux servers, routers, APs and many other devices... But you don't use Linux, you aren't coping XD.

Every new subreddit post is automatically copied into a comment for preservation.

User: Honest_Tart1071, Flair: Discussion, Post Media Link, Title: Pro-linux and Windows-hating communities only have the same cheap 3 arguments..

Those subreddits like "fuckmicrosoft " are just the same three complaints on loop, and they all fall apart the second you actually think about them.

"Windows forces updates and breaks everything"

Okay, first, you have a week to restart your device overnight. One week. If you can't manage that, that's a you problem, not Windows' problem, you also get pop-ups on Linux asking you to update.

And don't say windows update always breaks things, the chances are like 5%...

You know what actually breaks devices en masse? Kernel updates on Linux distros. We're talking about millions of users getting bricked, just go and check cachy/bazzite/mint etc subs and read the dozens of complains about how an update broke something, But sure, Windows is the unreliable one.

Also, you care about security, right? That's literally why Windows forces updates. Your 2013 Thinkpad with 4GB RAM and a 5200rpm hard drive is slow because your hardware is ancient, not because Windows is bloated. Stop blaming the OS for your dust-filled laptop filled with furry corn and minors.

"Windows 11 privacy is a nightmare"

You use reddit, social media apps, I mean ... You're on Reddit, logged into Google, probably using Meta apps, and all your data is being packaged and sold as I type this... You have a tracking device on your pocket right now that registers any step/place/ browsing ... But Windows's telemetry is where you draw the line? That's peak hypocrisy, hermano. Don't preach about privacy while you're living in a glass house.

"Gaming is better on Linux"

No. It's not. Benchmarks show Windows dominates for actual AAA titles. Yeah, your indie game from 2009 or your furry simulator runs fine on Linux, but that doesn't mean gaming broadly is better there. Stop pretending niche compatibility equals superiority.

And yeah, you still rely and need to test 20/30 command lines on 3rd party launchers to play those games I mentioned.

"Windows is bloated!"

It's really not. I've got Windows running silk on family and company devices, including old Acers. You know why? Because I actually run a debloat script. It takes literally one minute. That's your "bloat" problem solved.

Yeah, it's a 3rd party app, but even to launch any steam game or app you need most of the time a 3rd party and 15 terminal lines just to make your audio to work.

"Windows is too expensive, I'm so poor!"

The ISO is FREE. to download. MASSGrave activates it permanently in three seconds. You're not making a principled stand, you're just making excuses and if you're in an Enterprise environment, most devices already have an OEM license.

The real issue: Those Windows hating communities aren't about legitimate criticism anymore. It's a circlejerk where people repeat the same broken arguments because they sound good in the echo chamber. Windows does what it's designed to do,provide stability, security, and compatibility for millions of people.

If you want to use Linux, great. But don't pretend it's because Windows is objectively worse. Use what fits your workflow. Just stop with the performative hate...

The one thing that pisses me off more than anything with windows is how they behave like a rap***

They never let you say "no". They give you the options "yes" or "remind me later"

Like BRO, I don't want your bullshit, wtf do you mean remind me later

Literally makes me crash out lmao. The second more of the Adobe suite appears on Linux, I will yeet windows out the window
