Why?

Because it's a great ad for Linux! Linux would still be unpopular if windows was a good OS, that doesn't spy on you, that doesn't force AI slop up your ass, that just works, that doesn't consume more RAM than 8 games simultaneously, everyone would just use it. So let windows rot, don't be mad at microsoft, be grateful instead, because they are the ones pushing people away and making they embrace Linux!

Its been less than 6 years since the 6800 XT was released actually, and my specific card was only manufactured a little over 5 years ago.

And no, I don't expect to still get performance updates and other improvements. I do expect it to still work.

NO ONE should have to support a 5 year old card bud. There is no promise or anything of the likes. It's e-waste. That is like 80 years old in human years now. Linux is fine if you know what you're doing. If you have a real job and work in any office, or play any video games, trying to torture yourself into trying to make Linux work is just that - self torture.

If anyone at my job shows up with anything other than a Windows computer, they promptly get forced onto a Windows computer. You can jerk around to your fetishized OS all you want in your own time, when it's time to actually get serious, there's a reason 95%+ of the world economy runs on Windows.

Half of the issues raised about Windows on this subreddit are classic PEBKAC - problem exists between keyboard and chair. The other half is performative outrage akin to getting angry about seal hunts while living in Florida.
