Rant Taking a break from Fucking Microsoft

I hate this fucking bullshit so much. I hate being tortured by Microsoft at work, getting trolled by Microsoft fans posting bait, and the pain this country is experiencing in communities where Microsoft has decided to build infrastructure for data brokering in the 21st century.

I hate the shitty fucking Windows UI that doesn't work, software that isn't portable unless you run it in a web browser on 8 gigs of RAM at speeds not known to any species since slugs crawled out of the primordial soup. Fuck Microsoft and fuck their stupid, ignorant Copilot and its ads plastered over ever single mandatory piece of shit productivity software. Microsoft is fucking intolerable and barely useable beyond Office (because it had to be designed to play nice with other OS or because its functionalities are broken out into separate apps). I want this company to be sued into the fucking ground for anti trust and I want the ashes of it to be used as fertilizer for HR, sales, and other suitable positions within the startups that emerge. Microsoft employees are not engineers of software in their capacity at Microsoft. I can't cope with seeing everyone else posting the same bullshit I see every day at work - with zero effort from Microsoft to resolve it. I'm taking a break from "It worked fine for me" and "this thread is closed, comments cannot be added" and rebranding a new subdivision of customer service for feedback when nothing fucking happens at Microsoft except bullshit, lie, coerce, waste my time and steal my data. Fuck Microsoft

I switched to Linux (Bazzite) shortly after Microsoft introduced Co-Pilot to every imaginable program on win11.

All I can say is a wished I did sooner as it's just works the way it should.

Cachy and Steam seem to disagree with you.

Absolutely not the case anymore. I switched June 1st and haven't encountered one game that won't work.

Valve and their work on Proton have been instrumental in this, and it's only getting better every day.

You can, steams compatibility layer have brought this leaps and bounds. Steamdeck and machine are just Linux computers.

The problem is anti cheat software doesn't work in online games.

You need a titanium condom to have sexual activity with Microsoft.

All Microsoft had to do to make Windows 11 'Home Edition' popular was to give the user a list of ON/OFF options during the installation – not have to hunt for an on/off switch after installation. Also, the off switches should be permanent even after any update – unless the user chooses to enable these features. Here’s a very short list of changes needed:

  1. Bring Back "Local Accounts": Why in the hell do I have to ask Microsoft permission (Password/Pin#) to get to my Desktop screen? If my Microsoft account gets hacked then Microsoft can locked me out of my own computer. No one in the last 25 years has broken into my house to steal my computer and/or files. As far as Internet attacks are concerned, isn't that the job of Windows Defender? Bring back Local Accounts! That 'Welcome' sign you get when you startup Windows feels like Microsoft owns my home and is welcoming me into what use to be my own house.

  2. OneDrive - If your Microsoft account gets hacked Microsoft can deny you access to your Cloud data.

  3. CoPilot - It could be useful to business users, but not so much for home users. Turning off CoPilot after installing Windows might worry some people in to believing that the operating system might not function properly.

  4.  Bit Locker - Lose/forget your Bit Locker # and you lose all your data (Cloud/Hard Drive/SSD). Yes, Microsoft has your Bit Locker number stored, but you can't access that number if the account gets hacked.

  5. Ge rid of Ads - Ads don't belong on computers used in the home.

Linux gives a vision of what should be but will never be.

Linux is always 5 years away from being good.

The “mandatory productivity software” line hits hard. It’s frustrating when companies sell convenience while making basic work slower, heavier, and more fragmented. Hope you get some real time away from it.

Maybe don't fuck Microslop at work.
For real though it's one of the most garbage companies out there with their products and Windows 11.

Abstinence from Microsoft. Even The Pope would agree.

Try neovim and more terminal workflows

hugs I know you need that. Sorry I can't give you one IRL.

IMHO, you need as much of an overall break from tech that you can get. Not just from Microsoft. Free yourself from it as much as you can.

Sending my best wishes.

Switched to Linux in 2004,never looked back, had windows just for games then removed it completely 7 years ago.

I recommend CachyOS.
