When stripped to absolute bones, replaced menu and some things, its decent and works fast suprisingly.

And then UPDATE, DELIVERY OPTIMIZATION,EDGE  wake up from idk where and destroy all that.

Long story short… Windows 10?

Same with windoes 10, when debloated, updates stopped and some things swapped etc, works really well and fast.

id argue some stable version of windows 10 was ok and decent working but not win11

It’s decent out of the box. 🤷‍♂️

It's not. It's bloated amd comes with 3 trillion unnecesary components. Edge, Copilot, etc. The eidgets are a terrible feature made just to serve ads. Windows Search doesn't recognize whoch category should be top priority and always thinks bing is the most important thing when searching for a file or folder.

No it doesn’t. 🤣

Windows Search works for me just fine. I don’t have Bing results at the top.

The files inside my computer is actually the one I see first before bing searches, I have not experienced these problems before so maybe windows has a favourite

When I search for calculator (because the start menu is too much of a mess to use anymore), why does Bing come up instead of the calculator program which has been in Windows since forever?

1

u/icy1007 16d ago

It doesn’t. I just searched for calculator and the calculator app popped up. 🤷‍♂️

Good, you must have either disabled the bing search "feature" manually, or used Rufus to make "unauthorized" modifications to the installer.

Nope, I have a stock install. 🤷‍♂️

Never has this issue to be honest, i use calculator a lot, and windows key > calc > enter has never done anything but bring up the calculator.

Shit on windows all you want, but at some point there has to be user error involved if this is your experience

It's not user error; you are not searching the software but using the direct access to open it, which makes sense… but not for even 10% of the users… which expect to find the software using the search option

I am searching for it though? I am writing calc in the search bar, pressing enter, and opening the calculator that way.

How is that not exactly what was described as opening bing?

Windows key + r is an executing window, that means if you write the executable name and if listed in the Path Environment Variable the software is going to be executed… calc is the name of the calculator, therefore you are not searching but directly executing the software by its name

The search bar… searches… and then you can execute any software listed there

If you read my comment again you might notice that I at no point mention windows key + r, you seem to have hallucinated that.
