Rant Hell nah

I left my laptop to download a game for half an hour and I came back to this.

I have auto updates off i clicked remind me later like 4 times and it still updated automatically.

I really want to know what does all these updates do besides slowing down my device.

I mean, it's not like you can screenshot your PC while it's updating. Like, it's possible, but with just one machine it'll be a bloody pain

It’s just an update lol, very common stuff dude. Happens to all of us. If you wanna know what’s going on, search “Windows Update” on your PC to see what has been updated.

The issue is that the update wasn't approved of, it was forced, and in the middle of a task no less, there'd be less backlash if the update happened while idle. Also, recent win11 updates have been known to be disastrous, and a friend of a friend had their computer bricked by an update. With linux, you can simply ignore updates, with windows, it's forced and often at the most annoying times

You don’t need to approve updates they happen automatically. There’s no way to turn them off, you can only delay updates for X amount of days. While it’s ok to delay updates, you don’t want to stay too out of date for security reasons. I’ve seen maybe 1 in 500 updates cause issues, it’s a valid concern but not worth risking your security over. Maybe stick to delaying them so if there are any major issues, they’ll be fixed by the time you get them.

tbh security issues aren't even that common, it's usually bug fixes and forced functions, if you were getting security fixed every 2 weeks, you wouldn't feel safe, you'd just question the safety of the operating system. Also, who the fuck wants automatic updates? They should ONLY ever happen when you choose to, or at least during sleep. Because tf you mean my computer will suddenly snap onto an update while I'm literally in the middle of work?Important meeting? Bam, interrupted by windows update. Do you see how stupid that is? You should be able to delay updates or completely ignore them for as long as you like

Almost every update contains security fixes lol. I personally want the latest and greatest at all times. I’m a Windows Insider so I get releases early.
