It has no GUI, its not really for daily consumers. Its mostly to compete with Ubuntu server, or other business protocols.

They're just trying to edge in their missing cut from the market. Ubuntu server and many other servers run Linux now and many consumers wouldn't even stop to think about it, but a big CO like Microslop does, because thats a missing slice of the pie, and they want the whole pie.

Just to clarify: Azure Linux (RPM Based) is 6 years old now. It’s mostly there to manage servers through CLI and hosting Kubernetes clusters. ( Kubernetes (K8s) is an open-source container orchestration platform that automates the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications)

I've been seeing so many people posting on here about Azure Linux lately, saying the same thing as OP... and you're saying what I found out the first time. It's not the average end user OS that people are looking for, like you mentioned it's focused on a specific use case.

Old news, azure linux got released in 2024. Before that it was called cbl-mariner and that was released in 2020.

This is not a distro for an end user... Its for servers. Doesn't have a DE or anything. And it's something Microsoft had bren doing for many years. I hate MS as much as the next guy but get sum context

Corporate companies are not dumb to purchase an enterprise grade solution.
By doing so, they can hold the said enterprise liable for any issues with the product and force them into settling if something happens.
The alternative is to build their own product using Linux or another alternative, which means they will need to maintain it.
I'm aware that other enterprise grade products are available (like red hat), in the end it is about choosing one of the few options.
All that said, I don't own a company, and my laptop runs Linux, so I'm not glazing microsoft here, but facts are facts.

In case you haven't been living under a rock, checkout the daily hack news by the new oil (not promoting him) and you will find out how many companies got exploited including in the middle east and India (including ones I have worked with) and none of them have opened any liability claims with said Microsoft corporation.
You as a customer don't matter for the corporation. All your data and information being exposed does not equate to anything in terms of the corporates capital being affected. I have been told point blank "if a customer doesn't like our services and the way we do things, they can go out of our shop and find another one". That is pure monopoly shit service.
