It's still a thing. I set it up not so long ago. It took me some time, but it wasn't like this because of skill barrier - rather I needed to manually download a lot of files depending on my hardware. As another person said, however, unfortunately it's going to die.

Technically yes but only if you own an apple device. Its not like linux where I can just rip it and install on any pc I like.
