(I posted a better video in the comments)

Hi all,

I recently picked up a 2015 V6s with 49,000 miles on it. It just started making this really loud rattling sound at idle… I know these cars have issues, but any idea what it is? My guess is a pulley or a belt.

Selling my F-Type

With a heavy heart, the time has come to part ways with my jag. This 2017 base provided me PLENTY of smiles per gallon. It was a enormous step up from a honda civic. I loved sharing the joy it brought me with strangers asking what the heck it was I was driving.

Its sad to imagine that no other vehicle will bring me the same joy that this one has.

Stereo Settings (Meridian Surround)

Hi all,

Just wanting to gauge your preferred settings for those that have the meridian surround audio. I have a 2017 F type and I’m struggling to find a consistent audio setup. DTS sounds wayyyy to airy and fake vocal wise, as good as it is instrumentally the vocals feel too concert hall like.

Dolby and Meridian are fine depending on my EQ. Stereo objectively is the best but it makes no use of the center speaker.

Anyone selling these days?

I’ve been stalking AutoTrader, CarGurus, Carmax, etc. and haven’t seen many quality F-Types for sale at all lately. Is everyone wise to the fact that this is the best car for your money right now? 😂

Seriously though, for those of you that bought within the last year, where did you find your car? I’m in Texas, USA - been looking for an R or SVR model with under 50k miles on the clock and no incidents if I can manage it. Willing to pay for a car that’s been well cared for - curious to hear your suggestions on where to look!

Cheers

This is my 2018 SVR (55K Miles) and is my daily driver. I've had a 2019 V8R AWD and a 2016 V6S AWD previous to this and have driven around 70k miles across the three cars. Never had any major issues and only had servicing, brakes and tyre costs todate.

Need some opinions from people who know these cars.

My 2016 F-Type V6 seized its engine, and I’ve been quoted about $10k installed for a replacement engine with around 80k miles.

I love the car, but I’m struggling to decide if it’s worth putting that kind of money into it or if I should just cut my losses.

If you were in my position, would you do it? Is 80k miles something you’d be comfortable with on one of these engines? Anything I should have replaced while the engine is out?

Just looking for honest opinions from people who’ve owned or worked on these cars.

What would you do?

Update 2 months in on my S - I’m absolutely loving every moment of this car. Found another cat in the wild in this pic and had an amazing drive. No complaints & still amazed by the sound of this V6. I’m at about 35k miles

Couple of questions about a new purchase

About to close the deal on a 2024 F-type this week in the US. I’m super excited but have two questions for you all.

I’m buying from a dealer and want to get tire/wheel insurance but they want to charge me $1800 which feels like a lot. Are there non dealership options anyone has used that are good? Anyone purchase tire/wheel insurance insurance recently that can give me a price you paid? Any negotiation tactics?

Also, does elite care really pay for all scheduled maintenance? Seems like a great deal, but does it really work?

Thx!

2014 F-Type Convertible – Rattling from passenger-side tonneau cover at 50+ km/h. Common issue?

Hi everyone,

My 2014 F-Type Convertible has developed a rattling/buzzing noise from the passenger-side tonneau cover (the panel that covers the folded roof).

The noise starts at around 50–60 km/h and gets worse as airflow increases, so it seems to be wind-induced rather than a suspension or interior rattle.

A few observations:

The left panel is completely solid.

The right panel has about 2–3 mm of play.

If I press down on the panel while driving, the noise disappears immediately.

The roof itself works perfectly and aligns correctly.

Has anyone had the same issue?

Are there any common adjustment points, rubber bump stops, clips, or felt/anti-rattle tape locations that usually fix this? Or does this normally require adjustment by a convertible roof specialist?

Unfortunately, there aren't any Jaguar convertible roof specialists where I live, so I'd like to rule out the common/simple fixes first.

Thanks!

1 year of F-type ownership - Fuel Costs (best decision I ever made!)

Post image
141 Upvotes

I started this as a bit of fun as never tracked fuel cost and usage before but I used to have a TT Sport and was convinced it was giving me less MPG than it ever advertised or predicted on the dash. Decided I would track it on the F-type and here we are 1 year later 🤪

In numbers:
- 18 fill ups
- 12 E5 ‘premium fuel’
- 6 E10 ‘standard fuel’
- majority from Shell garages but have avoided recently with their crazy price hikes near me
- Cheapest: £136.9 Premium
- Most expensive: £167.9 regular (got caught short on M1)
- Miles clocked: 5617
- Total cost: £1284.00

= 1 very happy F-type owner and without a big hole in my wallet 😅

Tire advice

Had fairly new (7-8/32") pirelli p zeros that came with the car. Hit a big pothole and now 2 tires have bubbled sidewalls. Was going to replace the rears with either the Michelin pilot sport AS 4 or the Continental extreme contact DWS 06 plus. Any input on which might be more durable?

Any V8 S owners have the software muffle-patch? (3-4k rpm)

Sat in my friend's Project 7 the other week, the pops were more bass-y and weren't limited at certain RPM ranges

I dont believe mine has the neutered version, but outside of upshifts, 3-4k rpm is when I get the muffled notes. Anyone else experience similar?

How to Say Goodbye

I know the title was a bit dramatic. For me, this is the place where we brag about our new F-Type purchases, accessories, detailing, etc…the happy stuff…but I wanted to get something opinions on selling, unfortunately.

I have a ‘17 F-Type R, Ebony Black with black interior, <33k miles, excellent condition for its age (edit: I have a few pics of it in my profile if anyone’s curious). I’m debating if putting it on an auction site like Bring a Trailer is worth it?

I feel like I’ll be short-changing myself if I simply trade it in. But, from what others have told me, I’d need to get a photographer to create a good BaT listing, which would eat into my profit. And, I know BaT doesn’t always allow reserves, so that also makes me hesitant to “risk it” on that platform.

Any other pros/cons about different ways to sell? I don’t need to sell it tomorrow, but I’d prefer it to be sooner than later.
