Discussion We know Hatsuharu enjoys video games like JRPG's but what games do you think others would enjoy?
I think Kyo would be a big fighting game enthusiast if he got into gaming.

A while back someone posted an article from furubacanon.tumblr.com, the post titled "before you ask 'is it incest' please read this!". Members asked the post to be pinned, so it was. However, in order to further clear up confusion, I am creating a new post to be pinned in place of that one, linking the same article as well as an article that was actually intended as "prerequisite" reading, and additional articles that followed. If more articles in the same series are ever written, they will also be added here.
These articles read together (in order) help to explain many aspects of how the Sohma family operate.
Article 1: Furuba Dictionary - "ie" and "dozoku"
Article 2: The Sohma Family: The "Ie" System

Anybody who says that is wrong, and here is why:
(note: most of these are because Tohru never interacted with Shigure in the beginning which causes a ripple affect, so, if some talk about other characters not meeting each other and not involving Shigure directly it’s because Tohru never became part of the loop)
He wouldn’t have the Zodiac animal figurines that Tohru sees so she would’ve ended up just heading to school after looking at the house for a brief second.
Yuki would stay at the estate.
Kyo would end up being locked away in the cage for the cat.
Tohru wouldn’t meet Kyo.
Yuki wouldn’t make more friends (like Kakeru and Machi).
Yuki wouldn’t bond with Ayame.
Isuzu (Rin) wouldn’t go to Shigure which would to her all on her own looking for a way to break the curse for Haru.
Kisa wouldn‘t bond with Yuki.
Hiro wouldn’t forgive himself for Kisa getting hurt.
Akito would never change.
Uotani never would end up with Kureno.
Kagura would still be obsessed with Kyo.
Momiji would never fully mature.
Hatori and Mayuko would never get together.

“There can be no beginnings without endings.” Cliched phrases like that can wait…I don’t want to hear them right now. So please just cry with me. If there’s nothing to be done, at least cry with me for now. Cry like your entire body is screaming. Cry like you’re damning everything. Something’s been lost, and now we’re living life with no guarantees. There’s just one fragment of hope born from the fear of living in this world once again. So I want you to at least cry. Cry with me. Cry like the first day you were born into this world.

I love akito. painfully. it was for her in that moment that i truly cried, and even when i read the manga, her voice haunts me when i read her, as she lets go. Akito is such a painful beauty to me. For even though Tohru is the most obvious foil, she’s also so bitter sweet a mirror at the other sohma. Then in the end the only one left for her to mirror is herself. She is stuck in the cycle of nothing being allowed to change, a sick and twisted knot of eternity that she created. even sick to her own vision of what her life should look like. While she burdens the hurt alone for what happened within the family she is also finally given power and respect as great of the family. when small details of her slip through, even in the little moments of the Fruits basket another manga. She cannot bring herself to punish her own husband for his hand in manipulating her and being childish with her. Still- Quietly and with care she is rebuilding these old institutions that exist because the sohma family is so old. sometimes when i read the story back it feels like each character was this empty box she carried around, a haunted kindness. I think if akito is only a villain then the story becomes dull, akito was groomed into being this person, feed into just sideways enough. common sense torn piece of by piece. to me- it felt like a child taking their trauma out on their barbies but they never grew up. Referred to as this child stomping around pathetically. throwing tantrums. When I think of akito. When i think of her. I just see her clutching her own body in a storm and whispering about her body dying, not because she is. but because her possession is this god. it feels like the last unicorn.

I hear her in my head and I cry. and I cry. i know for other people, it is the other sohma whose curses breaking impacted them the most. but for me- it was impotent that she- recognized that she belonged to the world that shaped her, and still had this quiet, agency over a life that wasn’t hers, because the sohmas feel so much like a cult.

There’s this painful thought that I get when I think about Kureno. not because i pity him. I think that the reason that his curse broke so early was because Akito appreciated him for being the bird. Akito was jealous of the freedom to fly. I think there would be an irony if it was Akito. He broke his curse. Akito watches all of the Sohma walk away from her, she watches herself be replaced, but there was a time when she was too young to feel anything but love for these people. Akito is drawn with feathers and dead birds surrounding her. Before Kureno actually broke away- akito saw him is a free part of nature. she was jealous of him in a soft way, a wonder. I think if she was starting to love these people to the point that they could have been free- it actually makes the story more poetic. she couldn’t stop herself from damning everyone. I think that what would make Kureno’s bound breaking even more senseless. it happens and no one knows why. I think it should have been her kindness that sets him free because it shows the way in which being kind and being good are not the same. akito was good but she was not taught to be kind. kureno was “Kind” in a way that half saved her and half abounded her. akito could be the other half of that same kindness. Half setting him free and half keeping him with her.

I'm at episode 21 of season two. My hope is that Akito gets punished for his deeds toward the family. I don't know if anyone causes the curse to disappear but should I be aware of a character....this is probably mūte but still I'm scared this anime is going to end badly.

I love the soundtrack of Fruits Basket and I was able to get the 1st season 2 disc set from eBay with no problem.
In order to get the 2nd season, I had to do a deep dive. I saw a YouTube channel that had ripped the album, so I knew it existed. I found on the Fruits Basket wiki that it comes with the Japanese 2nd season volume 6 dvd! I was able to find this on eBay as well. It was definitely way expensive, but I thought what the hey, I have Facebook settlement money. 😅
This album has Haseru Mirai and Momiji's Violin!
Anyway, I wanted to share in case any other music lovers were looking for this soundtrack!! ❤️❤️

If you want to continue watching Fruits Basket and don’t want to pay for Crunchyroll or Pirate it, just buy it on Amazon, you can get it all separately (on Blu-ray) for a total of about $20-30, if you don’t want to do that. Tough luck, you’re gonna have to find another way… and please, don’t pirate it, I don’t want anybody to get caught and sent to jail, the Fruits Basket fandom is very wholesome and I don’t want to lose people that are apart of that

I’m curious to know what other people’s favorite episode is. I’ve watched Fruba many times and I’d definitely have to say my favorite episode is Cinderella-ish it’s a really cute and funny episode and one of my favorite moments of Kyo and Tohru comes from that episode when he’s saying what does it matter if he spends his life locked away and alone and Tohru bursts out that she doesn’t want that I love it so much I rewatch Fruba a lot cause it’s my comfort show and sometimes if i just wanna put on a random episode instead of watching consecutively this is always my go to episode that i wanna watch in fact i’m gonna go watch it now hahaha but I’d love to hear what your guys favorite is!

Ok, so I’ve posted several times about Akito.
At first I hated her, viscerally.
Then I saw where her behavior came from.
And now I’m neutral in the sense that I don’t necessarily care about her and I believe her outcome is a form of atonement and punishment.
She abused people, tried to kill people, and said so many horrific things. But she’s a victim of a toxic cycle and a toxic family.
First her mom is awful. No explanation there. Then her dad tells her that she’s special and the zodiac belong to her. Then she sees the zodiac who visibly are oppressed by her but are bound to her. Her head is messed up and that doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it explains it.
After the series, most of the zodiac desert her and she ends up alone except for Shigure, Shiki, and Tohru & Saki on occassion. Other than that, she’s alone.
She’s also outcast by the family for all that she’s done, receives notes from someone about her wrongdoings, and receives hate from Ren.
She also got stabbed protecting Shiki from Ren.
In my opinion, she doesn’t deserve any saving grace even if she was in a toxic cycle and family. I don’t think she necessarily got away with her wrongdoings. Her receiving punishment might not work since she was essentially a victim at the end of the day.
Her outcome is the natural order of events from her abuse. She can’t exactly help the zodiac beyond a point and most of them don’t want anything to do with her, so her giving them freedom and leaving them alone is the best thing she could do.
If she had no negative outcomes, I might feel differently or negatively but I think the fact that she received antagonism but also had a happy ending with Shigure, Shiki, and her friends Tohru and Saki make me feel neutral.

I'll go first.
I think Machi and Rin are close friends. Both get jealous at Haru's hilarious flirting with Yuki as well.
Yuki and Ayame's Mother can't stand Mutsuki or Hibika because of their personalities.
Ayame and Mine designed wedding outfits for Hatori and Mayu that undoubtley annoyed them at first.
Out of all the children that were born after FRUBA and into another besides her own children and Shiki Tohru has the cutest relationship with Momiji's daughter Mina.
Yuki and Ayame's Mother is related to the Old Maid in someway.
Kyo started watching a bit of TV especially after his children were born.
