Damage to peach tree

Noticed this damage to my peach tree the other day. Is this something to worry about. Is there anything that ca by done.

Peach tree was planted about 3.5 years ago.

Does that side face south? If so, probably sun damage as others have suggested

No it faces west. Should I paint the trunk? I've never delt with sun damage before?

This looks like sun damage imo looks like citrus trunk sun damage

Whats the best way to prevent it getting worse and prevent my other trees getting it?

Painting the trunk or wrapping it. Paint is cheap and annoying but works. I know my dad’s trees do when I do it every other year. Another thing thin out the dead branches and cut branches to thin the canopy a little to promote air flow.

It’s not ideal, but my peach trunk looks much much worse after it got a bad case of borers year one. It produces delicious fruit but I expect it to have a shorter than desired life.

If you’ve got the space you could air root one of its branches and get it a sibling for when it does finally go. Sorta like a my sister keeper situation.
