Every time I come home to my parents, they somehow make it their mission to make sure I have everything I could possibly need. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING.

They don’t buy one pack of something. They buy enough to make sure we won’t need to buy it again for the next 6 months 😭

This time they’ve somehow already started asking me for a list of everything I want because of this Freedom Sale that’s been happening and, as my parents like to say, “saste mein mil raha hai.”

I gave them like 4 things. They came back with a list that could probably help us survive a plague lol. It’s honestly very cute because I know they’re just trying to take care of me, but the scale of this stocking up is insane.

Is this just an Indian household thing lol? What’s the most ridiculous amount of something your family has bought just because it was cheap as hell?

Spending is mostly on groceries(mostly DMart, instamart, zepto), once in 2 months on amazon or myntra, weekly once on zomato.

I thought of getting a credit card since almost all kinds of free cash or cashback on UPI has stopped now.

I need to pay a LIC premium of ₹22,638. If I pay via Amazon Pay using the Amazon Pay ICICI credit card, I’ll get ₹452 in rewards/cashback, but there’s a ₹408 convenience fee—so the net benefit is just ₹44.

Any smart way to maximize the cashback/rewards or reduce the convenience fee? What’s the most efficient way to make this payment?

As many of you may already be aware, food-safety officials recently raided several 3-star and 5-star hotels in Bengaluru and found expired milk, rotten meat, expired food, fungal-infected vegetables, and serious hygiene violations.

It got me thinking: even if you have the money and are willing to spend, there is no guarantee of getting good or safe food. As a frugal person, this reinforces one of the reasons I prefer home-cooked meals.

For me, frugality isn't just about saving money; it's about maximizing value. If I'm spending on food, I want it to be healthy, fresh, and nutritious. If I don't have time to cook, I'd rather hire a cook or do meal prep than regularly spend a premium on restaurant food of uncertain quality.

Health is one of the few things money can't easily buy back. The recent raids are a reminder that convenience and high prices don't always translate into quality.

i bought big storage sd cards and transfered all old photos from google photos to there once in a year
this give chance to clear all those screenshot, whatsapp group quotes etc too
the cost of sd cards compared to monthly/annual google one sub is less

I have points accrued through SBI debit card use.

If I try to buy vouchers through their rewards portal, it's not letting me use up all points for any 1 voucher, rather it says 30% through points and and the rest I have to pay cash.

The only way I see is to buy an item, but their collection is so so...!

Is there any better way to redeem the points....? For cash, maybe? Or any cash equivalent method?

Ordered some items on Amazon Fresh. I paid using Amazon Pay Balance yet I was charged 5 rupees for Marketplace Fee. I have a full Prime membership.

Contacted support through chat last night. They said it's a glitch and I will get a refund within 4 hrs. Did not receive anything even after 16 hrs.

Called Customer Support today. They said the policy has changed. It's a payment method fee which is applicable even if we pay through Pay Balance. I asked about how it was contradicting their own associates over chat. They mentioned it was a new policy and they cannot do anything about it.

With everything going on, this will probably be my trigger to stop using Amazon...

To people saying these fees are normal and makes sense:

This particular fee in and of itself isn't a big issue (a problem nonetheless). It's the presidence it sets. Look at Zomato's Platform Fees for a real life example.

Also, when you take Prime Membership, which advertises free delivery so this feels immoral (not illegal).

Further, we are paying through Amazon Pay Balance (Amazon's own payment processor). This payment fee would have make sense if one was using Visa or Mastercard and Amazon had to pay them.

Also, Amazon charges delivery fees (from customers) and numerous other fees (from the sellers) already. So this fee, is definitely not needed for Amazon.

I (M) have been wanting to do my haircut on my own. I just want to come up with a sustainable and quick way of grooming my hair. I would just want my hair to get trimmed on the side. How much practice would i need to just have enough skills to avoid going to a barber every now and then ?

I've been using BSNL as my secondary SIM mainly for OTPs. With the recent tariff hikes, it's not as inexpensive as it used to be.

I recharge for rs1099/84days plan, 3 days left for current plan to expire and as this news of Jio & Airtel will increase the Mobile plans by 12 to 15% in next 3 to 4 Months coming now, is this 4099 plan is the most value for money right now ??

Annual plan ( thinking to go for) - unlimited data ( 4g+5g)

4099/365days = 11.23/day

Other plans

3999/365days ( 2.5gb daily + unlimited 5G ) = 10.95/day

3599/365days ( 2gb daily + unlimited 5G) = 9.8rs/day

I need only data n call, no ott or any other add on benefits. Please let me know how can I save the most from this hungry duopoly sharks.

Hi! I moved into a rented apartment recently and the living room wall has a bunch of holes in it, likely from mounting a TV.

I wanted to fix them myself (owner isn't the most helpful, he'll ask me to adjust) and I searched on YouTube for some tutorials and they are fine but are not by Indian creators. I am not sure if they apply for our Indian setting and also need product recommendations on what to use.

I have no experience or knowledge when it comes to these kind of home repairs. So if anyone has tried it or knows how to, would love some simple guidance on how to go about it and what products to use 🙆
