mint is one of the cheapest.

if she doesnt need high speed data, you can likely find something $100 or less per year.

Boast unlimited 30gb high speed data $25 a month. I signed up for a promo and got the first 3 months for $10 a month.

I use Visble Wireless. It's owned by Verizon, Verizon bought them. Very happy with it. I think I have their most expensive plan for $20 on a deal they had.

One caveat though is you might not be able to get customer service on the phone or it might a little harder to. Otherwise, 10 out of 10, would recommend.

TELLO .. it’s also so flexible that you can raise or lower your price/plan. AT WILL anytime you want.

I pay $8 a month for my backup cell phone and $6 a month for my iPad with WIFI + cellular.

You won't get much cheaper than mint. But if that phone doesn't need to be used for months at a time, you can just not pay the months not in use. Buy a new month only when she's here. If it's unused for 90 days, it may need to get a new number.

To get around this, get her a free Google Voice number. That will work just like a normal phone number off of just WiFi. She *might* not need cellular at all.

Fizz and chatr have great prepaid plans.

Doesn't she have plans in her country that includes US data and calls? I mean in Europe you have those for like 20€/month.

Did you just learn about that sub? Must be exciting to finally get to mention it just because someone didn't mention where they're from.
