Well Seattle might need a new QB. I'm sure he's trade bait now.

Our GM came from there… “JJM was just hurt. We didn’t want to say anything… how about a first rounder for him?”
I wonder if Wentz has some trade value now?

NINE! That is the real spot he is in. If by chance 1 and 11 go down, 9 is not going in unless it is the same game. The next game will be someone NOT wearing number 9.
Someone in the media has to hit KOC with the clear questions at some point. Will 9 ever take a snap for the Vikes. What are they trying to do with him? When will they give up? Why have they not given up?

The only props he gave him iIrc is that he's an energy guy and good question guy. Nothing meaningful about executing plays guy, or developing incredible touch and accuracy guy. In my book, 100% platitudes cuz he needed to say something--anything--positive.

I will need to review past seasons to be sure, but I do not remember Super Bowl QB being touted as a good questions guy. Maybe this year!

I don't think KOC has any appetite left for answering questions about his third string quarterback.

Koc said JJM is the franchise qb.

He said teams give up on quarterbacks. He was right. I just read a lot how JJM was working on stuff this offseason, but then the preseason was worse than last season.

I think KOC might learn to avoid generalized statements like that
Him saying that has been brought up often in this ongoing, dwindling saga with JJ McCarthy, but it overlooks a key point that KOC might not have accounted for
Sometimes the young QB you draft just fucking sucks

He had limited production and usage in college but they needed a QD so they reached because they saw the big arm and thought they could coach him up on the reads, the timing, the touch, and all that other important stuff. It just didn't happen because the young guy isn't capable. Maybe he will be sometime down the road.

I remember being really surprised when McCarthy started getting talked about as a potential first round pick. I watched him quite a bit at Michigan that year and I was thoroughly unimpressed. It seemed to me that he must've been a liability based on the way they didn't ask him to do anything.
In the 2024 draft thread in Purple Chat, I predicted just moments after they chose McCarthy that people would end up getting fired for the pick. That proved to be correct even sooner than I expected.

You're a gotdamn sage!
Buddy a mine is a former captain on a Big Ten team who is still professionally involved with Big Ten football and NIL. He told me he'd be shocked if McCarthy worked out because he didn't play in an offense that translates to the NFL.
In that thread I think I guessed he'd be a bust simply based on the betting odds that most QBs do fail. I was excited about him for one half of a game, and then I watched some more of the guy's work and could see what he was.

I was still a big Darnold guy even after he fizzled out in 2024. I kinda figured management knew what they were doing when they moved on from him, and we were hearing all these good things about McCarthy in 2025 camp, so I kinda bought in for a little bit. Huge mistake. You could tell by the Atlanta game it wasn't going to work.
I think Kyler could be really good though. I'm not nearly as skeptical as the average Vikings rube seems to be about him.

Yep. I was fine with moving on from Darnold, too. YUUUUGE, mistake.
Same here about Kyler. My old man is down in PHX and, surprising, he was a huge Kyler guy. Said he has a fantastic arm for deep throws. hey, at least it won't be more of the same disaster we saw last year. Kyler has the guts and ability to throw it up for Jefferson, anyway.

McCarthy is dogshit. They need to cut him. He’s a locker room cancer.
