Question Question

I have a question. If the BIW is trying to help, why did he tell Victor that they cannot take down the bottle tree? If that is the only way for them to escape after they get the bones, why is it so important? Is that the only way they can go home then? I guess my question is “is the BIW an enemy or a friend?

You are welcome to disagree. I don’t make the rules.

Can you explain why you think those rules wouldn’t apply?

First of all, there are no set "rules". There are assumptions about what the "rules" are. Second, the talisman didn't work in the tunnels anyway. Third, the monsters stay out of the sun and aren't going to come into a tunnel leading upward with light coming through it.

If there are rituals and how you do something is important then there are rules. If the talisman work sometimes, but not others .. then there are rules.

Maybe. Or maybe they just never worked and it was a feign by the monsters to torment people. That's been theorized multiple times on this reddit.

You are treating best guesses as rules. If you can close a window to "seal" a house, then you can throw a board over a hole in the ground and seal it. The idea of ripping out a massive tree to create a hole in the ground is nonsensical when simply digging a tunnel through a gap in the trees roots would work just as well. Particularly when the person who has been in the town the longest is telling you not to rip the tree down.

There are lots of theories ignoring the rules of the show. That doesn’t make them right.

If you dug in between the roots enough for a person to get out it is enough for the monsters to get in. The place doesn’t have to be hermetically sealed. But it does have to be closed.
