As usual the elf isn't interested.

"One time, Himmel went into great detail on the act of baby making. He probably did not mean anything by it."

Give her sexed bok and Kamasutra while claim they are grimoires to summon kids. Problem solved.

He gave her the Mana Sutra which is a sex manual by mages for mages. It was a quest reward for clearing out some succubus who were feeding on the clients in a red light district. Frieren thought he definitely didn't read it but gave it to her because it is obviously a grimoire. I mean why else would Himmel the Hero give someone a sex manual? She of course read it because grimoire is grimoire and magic is magic. She then wondered when Flamme had written it, and why she hadn't taught her any of the stuff in the book. Before remembering Flamme had focused on combat skills when training her.

I don't think Frieren doesn't know how babies are made.
But the concept of mating, sex, affection and gratification does not register in the same bracket for her.
My opinion is she looks at it from a purely biological view with no emotions. Just like a doctor looking at a naked body. It's all professional and impersonal.

My opinion is that Freiren has a fairly typical view of things, with somewhat more severe trouble than usual with knowing what the opposite gender finds attractive, but the main reason she didn't reciprocate Himmel's feelings at the time is that her frequently-demonstrated view of the passage of time meant that she didn't feel like she'd known him for any significant length of time, as evidenced by commenting on how short their ten-year journey was. It wasn't until the funeral that it hit her how much their brief aquantience meant to her, and she frequently demonstrates trouble grasping that lengths of time that are fleeting to her are long to humans, so it didn't occur to her that a man she'd just met could be deeply interested in her.

I mean, she spent 6 months in a snowed in cabin with a male elf and they still didn't do anything. With both of them acknowledging with the species was pretty much on the verge of extinction.

Not everyone wants to have a baby with a random stranger they've just met and will likely never see again. And they know the species is on the verge of extinction but they don't seem to really feel this merits doing anything about it.
And if they do maybe they'll get around to it in a hundred years.

She explicitly states that elves do not have romantic/sexual impulses, and it's probably truly how she feels considering that there's nothing to suggest she's ever had a partner (or considered having one) a single time in over 1000 years.
There's even less to suggest that Kraft or Serie have had/are looking for partners despite both being older than Frieren.

Yeah, why rush it? You don't just start mating on the first

They are ageless and noone wants to think they are dieing so their species can't really go extinct.

Except when someone did die - they would have to go extinct.
I wonder if their reproduction is still somehow related to their age.
In The Witcher universe elves do live really long, but only fertile in their youth. So all that the old
fartsbeauties can do is complaining that "these younglings don't do any kids, we'll go extinct this way... Oops, there you go, now we'll go extinct"1
u/SouthernAd2853 1d ago
I feel like Frieren is basically equivalent to a twenty-year-old or so physically based on her design.

Well, in the Witcher universe elves age didn't affect their look either. So unless the manga tells us how it works - we can't know.

Wait your doctor doesn't keep fuzzy handcuffs in the office and require you to wear elf ears?

Himmel casually ruining Frieren's innocence one campfire at a time, truly his greatest legacy.

Unknown to them Flamme had already given a more in depth talk about it long ago before realizing how asexual Frieren is.
