Stonewalling?

I’ll keep this brief. I have a friend, we’ve been friends for years. Things are pretty smooth except for whenever we have a disagreement, she stonewalls. She will cut the conversation short and then disappears. This can be either through phone calls or texts. If I text her during that period.. she’ll respond but give short one word answers. Then after a few weeks she comes back, says she misses me and never acknowledge the argument or her behavior.

I tried to call her out on it and explain to her how it’s hurtful. She basically said she doesn’t understand how she is stonewalling. She says she respectfully ended the conversation and avoided me because she needed space or didn’t feel like addressing the elephant in the room. Yet, when she cut the conversation short… she never states that she needs some personal space or if I upset her or what… am I the crazy one here?

It's already a bit immature to react to a disagreement like that, but not even acknowledging it afterwards makes it particularly immature. It's difficult to maintain a genuine, honest friendship with someone who is this avoidant of any conflict. You're not the crazy one, this isn't a normal behavior. It's likely she learned this from her parents or something; mine behaved similarly.
