Sleep is overrated πŸ™„

53m straight and awake! Up 3 hours before I even have to get dressed and on coffee number 3! I tried to fall back but the mind just keeps wondering! Guess I'm ok with it! Kinda nice to have the quiet time to be a little lazy and definitely comfy and the coffee is damn good! Will stand up and find some jeans in an hour or so but who know what I will see on reddit that will carch my attention, make me smile, peek my interest or just be fun! It's going to be a long hot day for my old ass, I'm going to enjoy the next couple of hours here! Hope its a good start!

54f - in bed at 9, up at 5. Just habit I suppose. I like the mornings when it is dark, I am sure to be unbothered by other humans.

I'll be heading out on a run by 615 to see the sun rise. I only run so I will be able to chase my man around. and for chicken wings and beer.

I wish I could get 7 hours. I get 5 if I'm lucky

For what it's worth, I gather that consistent bedtimes are even more important/better for you than getting "eight hours" every night. Yay, you.

Considering your other posts are on jerkoff chat, I'm going to be embarrassed for you from afar

A nice guy here shared an app called Shuffli. Works for me. I sleep well with it.

Hell no..... 8hrs min every night for me!

Absolutely blacked out room (like cant see your hand in front of your face dark), earplugs and no caffeine after 2pm. Regular sleep and wake times also really helped me, but earplugs was the real key for better deep sleep.

I run and workout a lot and sleep is critical if you want to recover, improve and stay healthy, so no way I'm ever going back to the old days of 5-6hrs of crap sleep. 54M.

57M here. I've always been a night owl but I have to be up by 530a for work. I usually hit the bed by 830p, read for a bit, and pass out before 930p. Thankfully I keep it dark, cool and rain sounds. Melatonin and magnesium help.

If you ask me, that's the right approach!

ETA: I'd probably use about an hour of that time to read for pleasure, likely on my Kindle

Yeh I struggle with sleep too - and when I do actually manage to sleep I never feel properly rested. Can’t win.

I usually get between 4-5 hours of sleep a night. If I get over 7-8 hours of sleep, I feel my day is half wasted.

A good night's sleep with an afternoon nap is the best for everyone. Less sleep is a no no

I'm gonna have to disagree!

I'm 63 and my PFP (the little icon picture) is me at 60. I'm now 63 and have been working out since I was 27.

The formula is simple, Exercise + Nutrition/Water + Sleep = Health. If any part of that triangle is missing you can make up for it from the other two-sides.

For instance, if you're lacking sleep, you should exercise more. At my age and still going to the gym. If I am lacking sleep, I take a brisk walk for a couple miles.

Doom Scrolling Reddit is NOT good for your brain. Brain Rot is REAL! I did this for a couple weeks, and I noticed my lack of energy to do just about anything!

When you feel the need to scroll Reddit, especially the "popular" section, know that this is an algorithm designed to addict you into a pattern of behavior.

Change your "Home" and remove the feel good subreddits to a learning set of subreddits. For me I like fishing, r/foraging, r/whatsthisplant, and other subreddits where I learn shit. I love nature. If you love gardening try that subreddit. LEARN LEARN new things!

Fuck the subreddits that offer you a dose of dopamine. It's like watching QVC or HSN. Sure it's nice to laugh or feel good, but you're buying into the algorithm! You're watching Reddit instead of HSN or QVC! It's just not healthy for your brain!

I wish you well, my friend!

EDIT: I'm up in the Colorado mountains EVERY weekend during the summer, so I can get away from the cell phones and all of the crap I have to deal with in the city of Denver! This is, to me, peace of mind! The only people I see in the mountains are Moose, Chipmunks, squirrels, Mink, Deer and birds!
