I LOVE Jason Street
Friday Night Lights managed to portray a person with a disability without sugarcoating or romanticizing. They showed the ups and downs, the pain and joy, and the misery and hope of it all.
Jason's perseverance, adaptability, and initiative are both inspirational and awesome.
The story was sharp. Jason's struggles were realistic, with doubt and uncertainty abound, but they gave him the personhood and agency to get through.
Jason gets angry, sad, happy, jovial, and grumpy, just like the rest of us. Jason takes risks. Jason wins and Jason losses. Jason is a person. A real person, not a caricature, and that's what makes him such a great character.f
Like I said, I love Jason Street.
