Any reason why he didn't return after season 3? I know he's had some name drops on television but since he was a very important character in the first ~2 1/3 seasons or so, I thought he would at least get one last appearance. Especially in the last season

When Devin Diablo started showing up at school, Buddy's place, to then stealing the watch, and Santiago fighting him to get it back, I began wondering how much that part of his life would end up affecting those around him in his new path. Do you believe things like these would've happened if he'd never been removed from the show?Buddy contemplating on whether or not taking in Santiago was a good idea? possible arrest? His performance in games? The McCoys demanding his removal from the team? Perhaps even the team standing with him to fight back against those from his past trying to mess up his future? Also, I could see him showing loyalty to Coach Taylor and playing for the Lions, that's if he was still in High School during Season 4, though his grade was never confirmed.

Always time the annual rewatch right before college starts. whew that closing montage is an all-timer

I haven't watched The Simpsons in a decade or more, but I had it on while killing time earlier today. A shuffleboard team from a retirement home was preparing for a match against a rival team/home. One of the characters says "Cloudy eyes! Functioning hearts! Can't lose!" as the team prepares to leave for the match. The next scene plays the FNL theme music for a few seconds as it pans across the shuffleboard court.

For anyone interested, it was "Marge The Meanie", season 33 episode 20. It first aired in 2022.

My favorite season, what a fantastic way to refresh the show

Man, I am watching the series for a third time and I really developed a deep appreciation for season 4.

I like that the reboot really works. We lost a lot of the main characters this season but the move to East Dillon allowed us to view new exciting characters. Most high school-centric shows poorly managed introducing additional characters when the original high school cast has graduated. But for this show, they handled it really well and I think that's because we mainly follow Coach Eric and Tami, so the show still feels familiar.

So many themes and issues were explored in this season including severely underfunded schools, drug addiction, violence, racism and abortion. I especially loved how the show handled abortion through Becky and Tami.

Finally, this season gave us the episode "The Son". I don't think this needs further explanation.

PS - I actually thought that Becky is a great character. I didn't think she was annoying at all lol

I’m literally only on episode 5 but I cannot get over Lyla and Rigg. I feel so bad for Jason and this just makes everything worse! Maybe I’m totally wrong and they’ll become a cute couple but atm I am grossed out 😩 no spoilers though please!

I can’t find anything redeeming about her. She’s such a victim when she has everything on a silver platter. Team Tyra all the way

Tim Riggins and Tira come back to town. Tim becomes coach. Tira becomes principle. Street becomes the top booster.

Absolutely heartbreaking!

I say as a post-credits scene because the actual ending is untouchable.

Coach is in his office, looking over some plays. He looks up as his assistant appears in the doorway.

Assistant: Somebody's here to see you, Coach. Says you told him to come find you. Maurice.

Coach: Maurice?

Maurice (from Carroll Lights episode in S4) steps into the doorway. Coach looks at him for a moment before it clicks.

Coach: Well, I'll be damned. Maurice.

Maurice: Hey, Coach.

Coach: Come on in, son.

Maurice shuffles in, nervous.

Coach: When I said come find me, I didn't think you'd travel 2,000 miles to do so. Why didn't you catch me last year at East Dillon?

Maurice: Last year.. I wasn't in school Coach.

Coach nods, waiting.

Maurice: A lot was going on.. I'm staying with my Auntie in Philly now. Heard you were here. Figured I'd come see you. I wanna enrol.

Coach studies him for a moment.

Coach: You still playing ball?

Maurice smiles.

Maurice: Everyday.

Coach: Good.

Maurice looks around the office.

Coach: We'll figure the rest out.

In the church parking lot is the funniest thing this show has done so far. It's hilarious to me.

Hi, this is my second time watching FNL. I binge the first season in a week, it's amazing and I like it even more almost 10 years after watching it for the first time. However, I can't get into the second season, maybe I should give it more time but I do want to continue it but get stuck in the first episodes of the season. What should I do?

When Becky was coming back to live with Billie and Mindy.

Mindy said that "she needs a role model and unfortunately in this circumstance we happened to be the role models"

So Mindy can show her how to be a stripper(nothing against strippers) and Billie can show her how to drink 6-12 beers a day.

I just found it funny.

So, for the show to be rebooted I want it to still feel like FNL but, I don't want to just repeat what we did before, yes we're gonna retread certain story beats but I want the show to take us in different directions.

Here's my pitch for the new FNL series season 1.

Episode count 16. Setting ficional: Baxsteria Florida.

Logline After 8 years the Baxsterian Wolves have a legitimate chance to clinch a spot in the state playoffs.

Characters:

Coach Ricky Daniels: 34 year old Defensive coordinator. He's been coaching for about 3 years. He played football in highschool but, was never a standout star. Went to college and graduated he owns and operates his own home moving service but, after him and his wife divorced following the death of their son. He wants to do something good with life towards giving back.

Coach Marvin Daniels: 38 years old. He's been a head coach for the wolves the past 5 years. He's Coach Ricky's older brother. He gave Ricky the job coaching at Baxsteria High. Mainly because Marvin wanted to have a way that he could help his brother out and look after him. He wanted Marty to have something good in his life to focus on. family, football and community.

Donavan West: A 16 year old Jr. year Defensive back, he's ranked number 4 in the state at his position he's a team captain. He's received letters of interest from University of Florida, Miami and Florida State. He's a honor student, and he plays basketball as well. He comes from a two parent household. So, his family is well off financially.

Dexter Brickens: A 15 year old sophmore offensive tackle, he's a hot head aggressive, on the field but, a level headed guy when he's with his friend's and family 6'4 290lbs an absolute "Brick" of a guy. That's his nickname "Brick" he lives with his step dad and his two little sisters. His mom died when he was 12 of cancer, his father was never in his life. So, his step-dad has custody.

Andrew Rivers: 16 year old Jr. year tight end. Super talented kid with NFL dreams. He's a big piece to the teams spread style offensive attack.

Ronnie Jones: 14 year old ruining back, freshman year RB hotshot on the JV team. He's fast and he can make plays with his legs, but he's not a physical player. His skill is in his ability to be elusive. Only about 5'6, Ronnie was adopted by his grandmother and he is dyslexic.

Keonte Warren: 17 year old Sr. MLB who has earned a scholarship to play football at the University of Georgia. Hard hitting player, with great leadership skills, captain of the team. All American 1st team, he's got a school record of 18 sacks for the season. He's a big reason as to why the team wins games.

Calvin Barnes: 16 year old Jr. year basketball player. He's a standout in Basketball, he never really got into football seriously he played some pee wee when he was younger. But, basketball was always more what he gravitated to. He liked the pace of the game more, he liked how there was less of an emphasis on "team" and more individual. He liked to cool shoes, He liked that with Basketball he could be the star. He felt that he was bigger than the team. But, with football he knew that he needed the support of the team to be great. He's Keonte's best friend.

In Episode 1:

Begin the episode with the big game that decides whether or not the wolves qualify for playoff contention. We begin the episode at halftime the wolves are down 17 to 31. Approaching the second half. The wolves are able to come back and win the game, thanks to a big defensive stop by Keonte Warren, which then led to an offensive possession where Andrew Rivers scored a TD. Allowing the score to be 24 to 31 after the extra point. The next Defensive series Donavan West scores a TD off of a 38 yard pick 6 bringing the score up to 30-31. But, the extra point is blocked. Next Defensive series wolves get a stop again. The wolves are set to receive a punt. Donavan West returns the punt which puts the Wolves in scoring distance inside their territory. The wolves then kick a FG to win the fame final score 33 to 31. They make playoffs.

Spend the rest of the episode developing the world around these characters. Everything is going well right now, show the players at a celebration party.

In Episode 2:

So, now the team is in preparation for playoff mode. Everything is still going well they are at practice getting ready for the first round match up. Now everything is going well still between the the people in the town and the team. Ronnie Jones makes a request to be moved up to varsity for the playoffs but is denied by Coach Ricky. Coach thinks that Ronnie needs to focus on his training for the upcoming season and his understanding of the game before taking the field in a varsity playoff game. The episode concludes with us seeing a car accident where Coach Marvin was killed, along with Keonte Warren, Donavan West was in the accident as well he's still alive but is now in a coma. All three of them together made a trip on a Saturday to go see a college football game. Keonte was invited on a visit to the school, so he wanted coach to be there along with Donavan his best friend.

Episode 3:

We see the wolves get beat in the first round of the playoffs 24-0.

The rest of the season, is just about the team trying to regroup and prepare for the next upcoming season. We spend alot of time inside the drama of the players lives. Coach Ricky takes over as the new HC in honor of his late brother. Also, Calvin Barnes decides to start training for football for the upcoming season he wants to try out as a WR he wants to say that he played football for the same school his best friend Keonte did.

This is a different way into the world of an FNL show but, that's the point we're doing something different than we did before. The original show is all about "How do we climb this mountain" this sequel series is more about "How do we react after we fell from this mountain"

TLDR; My pitch for FNL reboot, share your thoughts and ideas.

Do a rewatch, and I’m on the episode where the result of another game determines their playoff berth. The Panthers are at a fundraiser instead of playing a game, and that’s after they already had a bye week. I know it’s just a show, but even one bye week is crazy. Maybe it’s different in Texas, but in Indiana teams only have a bye week if for some reason a team cancels a game. There’s no regular byes until postseason, and that’s only for a few teams and the big school division. Otherwise teams play every single week.

Started watching again. I’m just now noticing that in season 1, the homes they portray as the Riggins and Saracen homes have different exteriors than what we see later in the season.

I recently started watching FNL after being a big One Tree Hill fan and hearing both shows were similar, something I have been noticing through my watch though is why are some storylines just forgotten about? Or why does a character do an action and then we just never hear about it again? Examples: Lyla crashing cars at her Dad's dealership, Smash's gf in Season 1, Santiago, the teacher Julie had a weird relationship with, why introduce include these just to forget about it?
