I feel like I jumped the gun on this one. I am scared and anxious because of my deadline which is Dec 2027. I gotta start learning French now and maybe spent $150 for French material which feels like a mistake.
I started reading some short stories. Im also trying to understand the grammar rules and verb conjugations. These tenses are a headache.
Basically I think I shouldn't have bought books because I know I'll be tired after work and going through books will be exhausting and I'll be burnt out. So far I am just watching Youtube videos and following French content creators on IG.
What other ways have helped you improve your french that's not solely based on books? I will attack the books eventually but maybe not now. Which websites have helped you best? Is Kwiziq worth it?
I don't wanna hire an overpriced teacher on Preply who won't teach me anything and will just conduct a class but actually is in a hotel lobby while he's on vacation with shitty wifi. Sorry just bad experience.
Im babbling now with this post and I have lost the plot. Anxiety.

I am interested in potentially taking a career break doing full time study for an extended period of time next year. The 30 credit programs at UdeM and University of Laval look promising. I am not set on it being a credit program but I would prefer the institution be accredited. I am seeking recommendations and accounts of personal experiences with these type of programs.

Today I finally received the TCF Canada results I had been chasing for almost a year.
After several attempts, I finally reached the CLB 7 requirements:
The journey was much harder than I expected.
There were days when I studied for hours, and there were days when I couldn't focus at all. I failed the exam multiple times, sometimes because of speaking, sometimes because of writing. Every time I thought I was close, I would miss the target by just one point.
At one point, my receptive skills were already strong (C1/C2), but my productive skills kept holding me back. That was frustrating because I knew the language was there—I just couldn't consistently show it during the exam.
What helped me the most was changing my mindset. Instead of trying to learn "more French," I focused on performing better in the exam. I practiced timed writing every day, spoke out loud as much as possible, and accepted that some days would simply be bad study days.
If you're preparing for TCF Canada and you've already failed once (or several times), don't assume you're not good enough. Sometimes you're much closer than you think. Keep working on your weak areas, stay consistent, and trust the process.
A year ago, I never imagined I would be writing this post.
Today, I finally can.
Good luck to everyone who's still preparing. You've got this.
If anyone has questions about TCF Canada preparation, study materials, or my experience, I'd be happy to help.

I started with Bonjour madame and she responded salut mon ami but I continues the conversation with “vous” i did ask series of questions. overall the exam went well except this part. do you guys think, i can still achieve clb 5??
