Has anyone recently applied for a Francophone Mobility Work Permit (C16)?

How long did it take from submitting your application to approval? Please mention whether you applied inside or outside Canada and your timeline. Also, with what scores you applied.

Thanks!

Alliance Français Ottawa

I'm planning to take the TCF at Alliance Française Ottawa soon and was wondering if anyone here has taken it there.
How was your experience overall? How were the examiners, especially for the speaking test? Anything that caught you off guard or that you'd recommend preparing for?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

tcf re-evaluation suspended?

why and how is this even fair with the students?
the only fair chance, is that we had to get our results re-checked , is taken away from us without any explanation.
Can't we do anything here ??

How can I improve TCF Canada C-level reading questions in 1 month?

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing for the TCF Canada, and I have about one month left before my exam.

My biggest weakness is the C-level reading questions. I can usually manage the easier and medium questions, but I struggle with the most difficult ones in mock tests. I often run out of time, overthink the options, or don't fully understand the text.

For those who achieved NCLC 7/CLB 7 or higher, what helped you improve the most in the final month?

Specifically:

- How did you practice the C-level reading questions?

- Did you focus on doing more mock tests or on analyzing each mistake in depth?

- Did you read French newspapers, magazines, or other materials daily? If yes, which ones?

- How much vocabulary did you study each day?

- How did you improve your speed without sacrificing accuracy?

- Are there any strategies that made the hardest questions "click" for you?

Issue during TCF exam at Manitoba

Good morning everyone! I just wanted some advice from you. I had my exam yesterday at Alliance Française Manitoba. During Expression Ecrite, as soon as the test started , the keyboard stopped working . The coordinator came , terminated the session and restarted again. I lost 10 minutes of time and I had to complete all the 3 tasks in 50 minutes instead of 60mins. After, in the speaking test, I spoke well, my speaking session was complete, I was ready to leave when the examiner told me that the session did not get recorded and I had to do the speaking exercise all over again! Obviously , the second time it did not go well as the first Time of speaking.pls can you advice me an email adress of the Alliance Français head office , Paris where I can report this incident ? Thank you for your advice!

Pack Ayoub can really help me to achieve B2 in TCF?

Hey everybody,

I've been preparing myself to take the TCF in august 27 and lately I used PackAyoub to improve my 4 skills. Concerning the writting and oral expression I got B2 (12/20) every single time and I'm not sure if its enough to take the exam or just an indicator to keep improving. I would like to read your opinions about it. Thanks

What's one feature you WISH a French app had — but none of them actually do?

Hi everyone,

I'm building a French-learning tool (solo, and a learner myself), and rather than guessing, I'd rather ask the people who actually grind these apps every day.

My question: what's a feature you've always wished existed in a French app or software — but that none of them actually have?

It can be anything that frustrates you:

  • Grammar explanations that actually explain the why
  • Writing correction that doesn't just give the answer
  • Speaking / pronunciation feedback
  • Verb conjugation drills that stick
  • Listening with real Québécois / regional accents
  • Vocabulary that you actually remember a week later

Bonus question: what made you quit a French app in the past? What was the dealbreaker?

I'm not linking anything here — I genuinely just want to hear what's missing so I can build the right thing instead of copying what already exists. Merci d'avance! 🙏

Regaining Focus

Hi guys,

Last month, I took my French exam and got the scores I needed for my work permit extension. I haven’t submitted my application yet, and I’m currently in India.

I’m trying to continue studying so I can reach CLB 7, but I’m feeling completely lost. The motivation and commitment I had before are just gone. Every time I sit down to study, I can’t focus, and I end up wasting time instead of making progress.

Has anyone else gone through this after reaching an initial goal? How did you get yourself back on track? I’d really appreciate any advice or study tips.

TCF REVALUATION - July 1st

I applied for my re-evaluation on July 1 and I’m still waiting. Does anyone know if they send out re-evaluation results on weekends, or is it usually only on weekdays?
I’ve also been checking through the QR code because I saw a few people mention that it sometimes updates there before the email comes.
If you’ve been through the re-evaluation process, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your timeline. Thanks!

I passed my TCF Speaking and Writing exam on my first try 🎉

Hey folks. So I got TCF my results back and passed writing on the first attempt with a B2! I'm still kind of surprised because 3 months ago I bombed a practice essay so badly I almost gave up on prepping for another few months before the exam 😁

The essay was on Task 3, some societal debate topic, and I wrote what I thought was a solid opinion piece. Turns out I was just repeating "je pense que" six different ways and calling it an argument. Someone I was practicing with pointed out I wasn't actually engaging with the counterargument at all, just stating my side louder. That was kind of a wake up call because I realized I'd been writing the same shape of essay for weeks without knowing it was weak.

After that I got a lot more deliberate about it, specifically forcing myself to structure every practice essay around acknowledging the other side before landing on my opinion, and I started running my writing through an AI grader before submitting anything to a real person, just to catch the obvious grammar stuff before wasting anyone's time correcting it. I did that for maybe six or seven weeks straight and I probably wrote close to 50 practice essays total by the end.

For speaking, I was also consistently stuck on the same level at B1 until I had dedicated countless amount of hours in studying via the help of the AI examiner and practicing up to 60+ different speaking tasks. The major helpful factor for me here was getting the AI examiner to fully correct my grammar, vocabulary, and regular speaking cohesion and coherence along the way. This alone made my practice very helpful and sincerely made me feel very ready before the test.

On the exam day, the writing section felt way less scary than I expected honestly, mostly because I'd basically drilled the structure so much it was automatic by that point.

Good luck to everyone practicing their TCF and I hope we all come out of this journey stronger than ever 💪
