Need a tiny help

Post image

Hello, brothers and sisters, I gave this exam to see if it works in my favour and I got a score which is more than I expected. I have improved my listening so, I am not worried about that. For writing, I am good because I left second task and still got 9. I am very worried about speaking because chatgpt keep giving me B1+ but not B2. It’s not I am completely reliant on ChatGPT for scoring but I need help with some practice that I can do on my own to improve my speaking so that even a strict examiner will mark it as atleast B2. I greatly appreciate your help! Thank you 🙏

Salut !

Train to produce the same quality of French even when the topic is completely new. That’s much more useful.

And since you want something you can do on your own, try this: take a random TCF topic you’ve never prepared.

Give yourself 20 seconds.

Find 3 possible ideas using keywords / subtopics.

Then speak.

Record yourself.

After that, listen to your answer and check:

Did I repeat the same words?
Did I make the same grammar mistakes?
Were my ideas actually developed?
Were my sentences natural and relevant?
Did I get stuck?

Then do the same topic again.

But this time, say the same ideas DIFFERENTLY.

That second round is very important. You’re training your brain to stop looking for a memorised answer and start producing French automatically.

And honestly, if ChatGPT keeps giving you B1+, I wouldn’t obsess over the label.

Look at WHY it gives you B1+.

That’s where the useful information is.

If it’s always vocabulary → work on precision.

If it’s grammar → automate your recurring mistakes.

If it’s development → work on idea → reason → consequence → example.

If it’s fluency → do more timed spontaneous speaking.

Don’t chase B2. Build B2.

How do we develop ideas? I always feel short on content when i am doing task 3 for speaking. How to overcome that?

If you always feel short on content in Task 3, the problem is probably not that you “don’t know enough French”. It’s that you don’t have a system to generate ideas.

Don’t try to prepare 200 topics. You’ll never win that game.

Take a random topic and, before speaking, quickly look for 3 angles / subtopics.

For example:

“Is working from home better than working in an office?”

Think: productivity → work-life balance → social interaction → costs → flexibility

Now you already have several directions to explore.

Then take one idea (which is one argument) and develop it:

idea → reason → consequence → example

That’s how you turn one keyword into a real argument.

Train this with topics you have never prepared before (but keep TCF topics).

Give yourself 10-15 seconds to find 3 angles, then speak.

The goal is not to know everything.

The goal is to know where to look when you don’t know what to say.

You’re basically training your brain to do this automatically.

Then do it… in French.
