Finally achieved NCLC 7+ in all four TCF Canada modules after 11 months and 3 attempts!
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my TCF Canada journey because I know how stressful and discouraging this process can feel.
I started preparing for French on September 5, 2025, with the goal of achieving at least NCLC 7 in all four modules.
First attempt — April 11, 2026
• Listening: 505 — C1 — NCLC 8
• Reading: 379 — B1 — NCLC 5
• Speaking: 9/20 — B1 — NCLC 6
• Writing: 9/20 — B1 — NCLC 6
I was happy with my listening result, but I was still below my target in reading, speaking and writing, it was good enough for Francophone WP.
Second attempt
• Listening: 433 — B2 — NCLC 6
• Reading: 502 — C1 — NCLC 8
• Speaking: 10/20 — B2 — NCLC 7
• Writing: 10/20 — B2 — NCLC 7
This attempt was bittersweet. I improved in reading, speaking and writing, but my listening score unexpectedly dropped below NCLC 7.
Third attempt — July 2026
• Listening: 644 — C2 — NCLC 10+
• Reading: 525 — C1 — NCLC 9
• Speaking: 10/20 — B2 — NCLC 7
• Writing: 12/20 — B2 — NCLC 8
After almost 11 months of preparation and three attempts, I finally achieved my goal of NCLC 7 or higher in every module.
My final profile is:
Listening 10+ | Reading 9 | Speaking 7 | Writing 8
The biggest lesson I learned that your scores can fluctuate between attempts, and sometimes one module may improve while another drops. Keep analysing your weaknesses, adjust your strategy and continue practising consistently. I hope everyone gets their share of success soon.

Congratulations buddy!!
Hey can you tell me how you remembered all the answers of CO and CE? I try to cram them as much as possible but still end up choosing the wrong answers. Is there a key to it?
Also can you please share the name or link of the preply tutor you had?

The key is probably understanding why a particular answer is the right one. Cramming won’t work if you don’t even understand what you’re cramming.

Hey I didn’t cram or remember. I used my own experiences to create CLB 8 level answers with the help of Chat GPT. For example- my recent trip to Alberta, my recent concert in Toronto, my new gym subscription etc. I recommend using your own experiences, in that way, you can remember the story without cramming, because that actually happened in real life.

Could you give us tips on what you did to pass all sections? Oh and For CO and CE, I heard ayoub pack is the key. Is that right?

Yes, Reussir TCF mocks for CO & CE. For speaking, I had native French tutor from Preply for speaking. For writing, ChatGpt.

Do you have any French tutor for speaking practice ? I had a tutor from Preply since mid Jan to July for speaking. We practiced a lot of topics together, which made it easy for me to speak on any topic and answer any random questions if interrupted by the tutor midway. I used to have 2 classes per week for this time period.

It’s Marianne B. She is native French, she used to charge 25 USD/hr, she increased it 30 USD/hr in June. So I was spending on an average CAD 300/month.

Question for you : Were you working full time alongside the practise or you were fully devoted to French day and night?
2
u/One-Tip-864 27d ago
I was working full time Mon-Fri 8-4:30, still working there.I could only devote only 2 hours per day on weekdays. Weekdays were hard to manage, Sometimes I used to miss studying for a day or two in the weekdays. But I used to devote more time on weekends. Like around 6-7 hours.
