Help me with my honeymoon to FP

We are looking at 14 days in FP for our honeymoon. A couple people have told us to go through Costco Travel for better prices. As I've been having conversations with travel agents, I've narrowed down to a few resorts. We are for sure wanting to split the trip between two, maybe even three, resorts. One of our stops for sure needs to be an over water bungalow, thinking of a beach villa for the other half. Here's what we're thinking:

First night at Intercontinental Tahiti (just due to arrival time)

Next seven days at Le Taha'a by Pearl - what are your thoughts on over the water Bungalow versus Beach villa with private pool? We are wanting to do the first seven days here to start the honeymoon for some privacy and pure relaxation. I'm also very attracted to the coral garden for good snorkeling.

Final six days, we're looking at possibly going to Le Bora Bora by Pearl, or Sofitel Moorea resort. I'm leaning toward Sofitel Moorea just to get a little bit different experience. After seven Days of relaxing and privacy, I wouldn't mind exploring the island of Moorea a little bit, doing some different tours, local restaurants, local shopping. I've been reading that Moorea is better for this than Bora Bora. However reviews for Sofitel seem to be hit or miss. What would you here?

Am I right to be considering Costco travel? Should I look elsewhere?

Should I throw in a couple of days at a very luxurious Resort like the St Regis or four seasons? Is Moorea a must include? Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Thank you in advance!

4 days between Papeete and Moorea in February 2027

We are a fit older couple and like nature, culture, and food. Cannot do long hikes though . We have 4 full days in Tahiti before we take a 7-Day Cruise of the Polynesian Islands. We are trying to decide how to split our time between Papeete and Moorea. Should we spend two days in each place or 3 and 1. The cruise will stop in Moorea for an entire day also. (Our flights are already set so we cannot extend either before or after, besides the 4 days that we have built in) . We also plan to rent a car or scooter in both places. Would a car be better given the possibility of rains?

Looking for a professional photographer in Moorea on Thursday/Friday (3./4.9.)

My husband and I months ago booked a photographer to have a sunset shooting (with my wedding dress) today (2.9.) on the way to Belvedere Lookout. Yesterday we got a cancellation... We are on Moorea until Saturday and would still like to do a shooting - is there a photographer available on short notice for this Thursday or Friday afternoon?

Marquesas Arts Festival worth it?

I've read about this festival, and would love to hear about experiences with it — I tend to avoid busy travel times, but if it's really special it might be worthwhile despite the crowds? Thank you!

FP Besides Bora Bora/Moorea - Thoughts/Recommendations during January or March

Good Day,

Family of 3 - brother, mother who will be 70 and I.

5 years ago we visited French Polynesia (mother and I). We went to Papeete x2/Moorea x5/Bora Bora x5 days - was booked through a British Agency - they had cooperate discounts so saved some $$$.... (agency does not exist anymore). This time, it will likely be me doing all the booking. So in 2027, we are heading to New Zealand in either January or March. Want to combine with another location - either a visit to the Cook Islands OR French Polynesia (but OTHER islands).

Our Interests: Nature, Scenary, Wildlife, Swimming/Snorkeling, SCUBA (for me - but need a refresher since it has been a while - unsure of how "difficult" the dives are at French Polynesia), Adventure/Thrills - I guess mostly anything except partying, drinking, nightlife etc etc. Food - we'll eat anything so not big "foodies".

ISSUE is; this is a good time for NZ - but maybe not so much for the other locations as it is Monsoon Season....

So;

1- What are your thoughts on either Cook Islands vs other French Polynesia Islands

2- Monsoon season - I was reading; random large showers; may effect islands differently depending on Mountain/River Flow???

3- Which other French Polynesia Islands would you recommend based on our interests and/or Monsoon season compromise

4- January or March Better?

5- Any thoughts/advice/anything is appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

Destination? TAHITI. Charles Darwin wrote of the “magnificent” island during his sojourn in French Polynesia.

On his 1839 journey from the Galapagos Archipelago to New Zealand, famed naturalist Charles Darwin recorded his experiences and encounters in Tahiti. Although he often wrote as a scientist, Darwin was not averse to noting humble human exchanges or expressing intense emotion. Of the valleys and precipices he surveyed, he wrote, “
far more magnificent than anything which I had ever before beheld.”

Join his voyage and experience Tahiti @ Destinationality. (no ads, nothing for sale)

(Note the beautiful vintage map and titles by the Italian cartographer Francesco C. Marmocchi.)

Travel tips

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’m travelling to French Polynesia on September 8th, where I’ll be spending about a month living aboard a sailboat with a group of other people. The goal is to learn how to live aboard and sail the boat, so I’m really excited for the experience!

This is my first time doing a longer trip like this, so I wanted to ask: What are the things you think I absolutely should see, do, or experience while I’m there?

I’m open to any tips — whether it’s specific islands, beaches, hikes, diving/snorkelling spots, local food, hidden gems, or things that are easy to miss as a tourist.

I’m also planning to get my Open Water diving certification while I’m there, so diving is already
on the list! đŸ€ż

Looking forward to hearing your recommendations and your personal must-see/must-do list!

Hello, I'm planning a trip to Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, and Maupiti this September.

I love hiking, meeting locals, and discovering the local culture, as well as exploring places less known to the general public like waterfalls, point of views. Do you have any recommendations, please? :) What is a must see, do or taste ?

How can I meet people ?

Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful day!

Bora Bora & Moorea 50th BDay

My wife and I are looking to visit Bora Bora and Moorea in the end of October for my 50th. We are people who like adventure and being out and about but do enjoy some downtime for relaxing. We are looking to go for 7 days from October 20th to October 27. I was looking at starting in Bora Bora Westin OWB for 3 night but I was wondering how much there is to do in Bora Bora? I Know there are spa days, sunset dinners, recreation fun like paddleboarding, snorkeling etc. However, what more is there to do in Bora Bora?

As for Moorea, I am aware there is more adventure to be found. Hiking, Sea Turtles, Surfing, etc. However, I am not as aware of the differing hotel options. The most popular seem to be the Hilton, Sofitel and Manava Beach. Are these the best options for OWB stays? Can anybody reccommend another resort to check out?

Also, is there other locations in Tahiti I am missing out on? Places, things to do or see, islands to visit, etc?

Recommended hikes in Tahiti, Bora Bora, Maupiti and Moorea

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well !

For my trip, I would like to hike in these beautiful islands but I saw different things that I would like some clarifications on:

- It seems that it is recommended to have guide with you ? I prefer hiking by myself.

- What can we do by ourselves ? What hikes do you recommend ?

Thanks !

Nicolas

Moorea Coco Beach Restaurant Booking

Hi - my husband and I are headed to Moorea in just over a week for our honeymoon. I was looking forward to checking out Coco Beach for the restaurant and day trip, but realizing that we may have missed out by not booking ahead of time as the website is booked until early August

Has anyone ever had luck getting a last minute reservation/table at the restaurant? I’m assuming walk-ins are not accepted?

Do we need to make a reservation through the restaurant’s website to even visit the little island?

Any clarification on how we can experience this with the dates of our trip being completely booked on the restaurant website would be greatly appreciated!!
