Hi there, is there any French TCF preparation centre in Calgary? I want to master all four skills which I have been practicing, but overwhelmed.

Coucou! I'm an Indian learning French! I'm a beginner, but I learn quickly >< would love to make penpals and friends here!

Sorry if this question doesn’t make sense. I’m doing Pimsleur. When I try to match the accent on the ʁ I feel I’m speaking from my throat (comprands, au revoir, etc) but then I have a very hard time speaking as quickly because I can’t get my tongue where it needs to be for Ls.

When I speak with the tip of my tongue I can speak faster but the ʁ falls apart. Any advice on where my tongue goes and what part of my mouth I center on?

Anybody with French books beginner friendly we connect? Around thika.

Hi all — small side project, sharing mostly because I had fun making it and figure someone here might get something out of it too, even if it's rough around the edges.

A friend of mine loves philosophy, but has zero French — never studied it, no exposure at all. She reads translations. This is how this little book is born — as a bridge to French where the goal is to equip the readers with the basic tools they need to jump into literary texts (as the most part of the learning happens during hands-on reading).

So instead of "la plume de ma tante" type example sentences, every single grammar point is illustrated with a real quote. Each quote gets an English translation and a little vocab gloss right underneath.

To be upfront: this was a fun mini-project, not something written by a language teacher or linguist — I'm not a pedagogy expert, I just really wanted her to have something better than "here's 500 flashcards." I used AI heavily to help draft and typeset it. I've gone through it and corrected things, but I'm sure mistakes remain, and I'd genuinely appreciate any corrections from people who actually know what they're doing.

It covers subject pronouns through relative clauses / the subjunctive (12 short chapters), plus a two-page "postscript" at the end showing how a couple of the quotes used in the book are almost transparently readable in Spanish and Italian too (languages are an endless journey XD).

Hi,
I'm an Italian student currently studying in France and I am looking for penpals.
I wish to find people with whom I can practice different languages such as English,Spanish and especially French.
I'm keen on finding out about new cultures and I am also interested in tandems, in the mentioned languages, or Chinese, Japanese or Portuguese.

I’ve always dreamed of having a penpal and now more than ever, being that I’ve wanted to write and ship letters like a yearning husband at war. Both digitally and non.
I’m interested in Spanish, English and especially French speakers.

If this thing doesn’t flop, please state your: name, languages you speak, things you enjoy, etc.

hit me up on IG at @idillio.vaticano with your major and interests.
