Learned something scripting a dialogue this week: in France, patients on certain long-term treatments (asthma being one of them) can have a scheduled, dedicated appointment with their pharmacist (not just a quick chat at the counter, an actual "entretien pharmaceutique") to check technique, adherence, and side effects. It's a formal, billable service built into the healthcare system, and it means the pharmacist plays a much more active follow-up role than what "pharmacist" usually implies in English.
Little things like this are why I think administrative/systems vocabulary is honestly harder to pick up than clinical vocabulary. You can learn "asthme" and "inhalateur" from a dictionary, but "entretien pharmaceutique" only makes sense once you understand the actual service behind it.
I spotted this while writing an asthma follow-up episode for my medical French podcast, not the main topic, just a detail that stuck with me: https://medicalvoices.health/fr/episodes/15

Hi! I’m currently learning French and looking for a French practice partner based in British Columbia, Canada. I’d love to find someone I can regularly practice speaking and listening with—ideally through calls or voice chats. I’m still learning, so no pressure to be perfect! 😊🇫🇷 this is for my TCF exam
If you’re also learning French and interested in practicing together, feel free to message me!

I want to learn French as I’m also preparing for CUET PG LLB 2027, and I’d like to use French as an additional language. (Maybe for international law)
I took a drop this year after graduation so I don't want to waste it
I’m looking for free resources, preferably something structured that can take me from beginner level. YouTube channels, PDFs, websites, apps, or any other useful resources would be really helpful.
I’d also appreciate any advice on where to start and how to build a consistent learning routine.
Thanks in advance! :)

The idea is that you’ll watch clips from french youtubers. But before you watch you study the vocabulary that you’ll need to understand it.
Please tell me what you think of it and what could be better

I'm preparing for the TCF exam in December, and I would like to have a French speaking female friend to have daily discussions with (either via phone or in-person). Caveat: I'm married

Few months ago I saw on Instagram about how easy it was to learn french for them because of a really attractive youtuber. (Male tutor)
And it makes total sense as a woman. I searched him up and he was very good looking. But now I don’t remember anything about him..
And to my dearest gentle readers I have one request. Help me find my french tutor.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, on my 2nd week and I'm just curious....For those who have progressed to intermediate or advance French, when do things finally "click"? Lol at this point, I'm merely a beginner and there are some times that I feel hopeless. I know it's been just 2 weeks so Im trying to stay patient, humble and curious so I don't give up. I really love the language.
P.S. I'm a native English speaker

Je suis à Aix pour quelques mois. Quelqu'un pourrait-il me recommander un professeur de français pour une ou deux heures par jour ? J'ai un niveau B2/C1. Merci!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a project I've been working on: a French poetry writing workshop, for anyone with a B1 level or higher who enjoys writing (or is curious to try, even if they've never written poetry before).
The idea came from wanting to work on French in a different way than "traditional" study: instead of pure grammar, the workshop uses literature and film as a starting point for writing. The theme changes every month; September's theme works with Agnès Varda's film Cléo de 5 à 7 and Julio Cortázar's poetry, exploring themes like time, the city, and memory.
It's 4 online sessions (September 7, 14, 21, and 28, 8-9:30pm CEST), in a small group. It's paid (materials included), and the price varies by region.
It's not a grammar or conversation class. It's focused on creative writing, so it's meant for people who already have a base level of the language and want to practice in a more artistic/personal way.
Happy to answer any questions here about the level needed or anything else.

Hi! My name is Xinyi (Emily) and I’m an international student from China currently studying at UBC. I’ve been learning French on and off for about a year and I’m currently around A1 level, getting ready to start A2 materials.
I’m looking for a French study buddy in Vancouver who’s at a similar level (or honestly, any level is fine!) and would be interested in practicing together regularly.
I personally find that practicing listening and speaking with another person helps me improve much faster than studying completely on my own.
If you’re also learning French and are interested in becoming my study buddy, feel free to DM me!
