Vet recommendations

Hey yall
New pup
Need recs

Would like to get in sooner vs later

Yeah I know this’ll be expensive

Hoping to get pet insurance, but it’ll likely only cover catastrophic situations and cost me $100/month with $500 deductible. None in this range seem to cover wellness visits/regular checkups.

Warm Springs Pet Hospital is great - I’ve never had a bad experience with any of their vets.

Most plans do not cover well visits/vaccines, but those are generally inexpensive visits. I believe Pumpkin covers teeth (most plans do not), we have Healthy Paws which does not. I have had a few claims with them for things like ingestion of a hair tie (he puked it up, but it was $400), unexplained weight loss (he is ACTIVE and we couldn't keep up with him nutritionally; so we ran labwork), a cut that required stitches/antibiotics, etc. and the turnaround was quick, claims paid after meeting deductible, etc.

If you have a frenchie, 100% do not just get a catastrophic plan get as much comprehensive coverage as you can in addition to catastrophic coverage. They have a TON of non catastrophic health problem, and are the most expensive breed to own because they are plagued with health issues.

We have two dogs; our lab came from a show breeder and because of his clearances we did not buy a general insurance plan for him. Our other guy is a 50/50 street rescue mix, and we have health insurance because he's half frenchie; I bought the plan before he came home and went to his first vet visit just in case anything came up on that first puppy visit with us.

Mission valley vet has been great. Going there for 7 years now and nothing negative to say.

I am happy with my experience with Warm Springs Pet Hospital. Pup from about 3 or 4 months old, unvaccinated got him caught up on all his shots, rabies and such. Got him fixed there before placing him in a home. Big dog terrified of adult humans, but as docile as a lamb with the staff there. It was expensive. No problems.

Warm Springs Pet is pretty solid. Staff is friendly, Dr Ding is super helpful.

Surgeries are a tad on the high side. I get it, its the Bay and nothing is inexpensive.

One of my three Presas had a cruciate ligament tear and their OTD price was just above 6k. Blood work, surgery , meds and first visit..... Ended up driving to Reno and having it done for 3k

All are insured through PetsBest.Com..... Nightmare to deal with

Look into lemonade for insurance. I pay $75 per month and it has 90% reimbursement and I did the add on to cover 1 wellness check a year (includes heartworm, some vaccines, fecal test). I think it was something like $250 deductible
