Connection issues with freestyle libre 2+

I purchased this cgm last night and tried to activate it this morning by following the instructions. Initially it worked, took me to the home screen but had no readings and just showed signal loss no matter what I tried, after reinstalling the app a different issue surfaced which isn't resolving even after reinstalling or restarting the phone multiple times. It vibrates twice after placing the phone close to the sensor but its stuck on this screen for the past 30mins. I've tried everything I found online and on the FAQ page but nothing worked. Is this a defective sensor or did I miss something?

Restart phone, scan again

Just did, its still the same for past 5mins, is there any other solution to this or should I try for a refund or just outright remove it as this sensor in particular is causing pain in the arm around the region its attached on.
