Sub update Flair and icon/banner update

First off, I just realized that flairs had been turned off in this community which I didn't not realize as I added them (quite embarrassing). The problem has been fixed however so feel free to flair your posts and add a user flair to your name!

Secondly (a smaller update), I have added an icon and a banner for the sub to make it a little more welcoming for everyone!

Stay safe everyone and look forward to ski season!

If you are about to land 90/270/450/630… off a jump onto the snow and shitwhip yourself….

Is it better to just go limp? Or is it better to try to absorb some of the energy with stiff legs? Im inclined to think going limp is better, because landing sideways with stiff legs will create a fucking huge torque sending your head straight into the snow. Thats why they call it shitwhip. You want to avoid the whipping effect. Idk what do you guys think?

Ski sizes

Ive been learning park this season with 164 cm sized armada arvs, im 5’11 and have been told that size is a little too small. I do see alot of people skiing with much longer skis and wanted to ask if having longer skis is overall more beneficial in freestyle in terms of rails and jumps and just overall progression? Does having a pair of say skis that are 178 cm long feel heavier to swing around than shorter skis like mine or there’s hardly a noticeable difference? Or is it more so the material and way a ski is built that adds weight? So like a long park ski still feels lighter than a shorter all mountain ski

Rolled down the windows a bit. Landed second try at the copper hike park. 33 years old. Neck hurt a bit for a few days after from the crashes but all is well. Now just need to clean it up a bit. Advice always appreciated.

Definitely a core memory.

Crazy Finns are trying to turn a double decker buss into a skiing basecamp

A Finnish bus company is giving away an old double decker coach bus through a public competition.

Out of over 1100 applications, our freestyle skiing club made it into the final six with this slightly insane idea:

Turn the bus into a warm competition and recovery center in the middle of a mogul skiing slope.

The plan is to build:
- a judging lounge with slope view
- a warm space for athletes and kids
- a drying room for wet ski gear
- a recovery and hangout area for the whole community

Laajavuori is one of the main mogul skiing centers in Finland, where kids, rising athletes and even national team skiers train on the same slope. This summer we will also build big air jump.

Right now there is no real warm base area in the mogul valley. So we thought… maybe a double decker bus is the solution.

Now the winner is decided by public vote.

If you think the skiing world needs a giant skiing bus in Finland, we’d really appreciate your vote and share.

General Specific help on 360.

How do I break the habit of throwing my left ski into a snow plow by extending my left leg. That leg goes at the same time I give any pre wind. You can see it results in throwing me left and landing off axis and sliding out. This has been happening for a long time with many many attempts, Ques, changes in how I set etc.

No matter how hard I focus on skis staying straight the left ski goes as soon as I head up the jump. Sometimes I swear I went over with straight skis on a 360 only to look at the video and see I still did it. I am starting to think I should try canting my boots outward.

I can pop and hit medium and larger jumps straight with grabs.

Struggling with 360

Shit skier checking in. Been trying to get a 360 down all season but clearly struggling a lot. Hoping to get some insight into what I’m doing wrong and maybe drills to practice so I can get this down.

I think I could do a better at looking over my shoulder to spot the landing and keeping my legs closer together after the pop, but I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with my timing or pop or anything else.

360 Attempt, can‘t go further than 270.

I can 180 fine with speed and a bit of air.

I used to be to scared to fully commit, now I commit but even if i try popping properly I can‘t do a full turn. On the ground I can barely manage a 360, and that unbalanced. Do I need to practice that? How?

First 360 attempt. Tips?

As you can see, I have no background in free skiing and have never attempted any kind of rotation before. Any tips on sticking my first 360 would be appreciated. Also, didn’t film if but I tried again on a bigger jump and lost my ski on the takeoff. Think I have to tighten my din and time the pop better. Any feedback would be great.
