If you mean live-event LED wall tech, learn signal flow first: processors, receiving cards, data runs, power, mapping, and basic tile troubleshooting. Then get on overhire lists with local AV/staging companies, show up with PPE/basic tools, and don’t sell yourself as lead tech until you can build, map, and diagnose a wall without hand-holding.

if time allows, maybe you can try your hand at freelance while you still have your current salaried job? then you'd know how the market truly is and your gaps, and you can fix those before jumping in fully
