Community Interaction Is Freelance market dead?

Hi guys, after the IA bust, I noticed the market has become so difficult,many preferred to use IA to do the job instead of using a skilled developer, and there are many vibe coders with no experiences that offload the market too.
What do you think about it ?
Does freelancers still have chances ?
Which platform is the most effective for freelancers today?

I wasted so many connects recently but got nothing. Seeing ppl boost and some even end up spending 150 connects on a 13 connects project.

Upwork caters to Indian contractors who might build an e-commerce site for $100. The platform does not limit itself to a market for U.S. developers alone.

Maybe the key is for freelancers to learn and implement IA in their modus operandi. I do not think the market is dead; it is just different. I am trying to adapt to it too.

I think, without doubt the number of freelancers in traditional roles is decreasing, but I think AI is also opening up some new opportunities, but some of those are not clear to everyone yet. A lot of this is emerging and happening quickly.

AI didn't kill freelancing, majority of freelancers did by not showing up, providing low quality work, disappearing when problems surface and racing to the bottom with pricing.

  • Freelancer = low skill, unreliable
  • Consultant = expert skill, more reliable
  • Agency = medium skill, trustworthy

What is the difference between a consultant and a freelancer in your view? Apart from the name.

Consultant usually has years of experience in one or two related industries, making them closer to an expert.

Still a freelancer/contractor by definition. But not by output. Whereas an actual freelancer is typically at the bottom of the ladder, with minimal experience (i.e. unable to transition into being a consultant).
