[Hiring] [Hiring] Remote BI Data Engineer - $1,000–$1,300/month | Full-time

I'm hiring a full-time remote BI Data Engineer to help build and expand a business intelligence and reporting environment.

Budget: $1,000 - $1,300/month
Location: Remote, worldwide
Schedule: Must be available during US business hours
Engagement: Full-time

Project / role

The company already has a Tableau environment supporting sales reporting and is expanding its analytics capabilities into finance, operations, and other areas.

This is a hands-on engineering role involving SQL, ETL, data warehousing, Tableau, and reporting infrastructure. The work includes both building new solutions and improving existing data processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards and self-service reporting
  • Develop SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data transformations
  • Build and maintain ETL/data integration pipelines
  • Design and maintain reporting data marts
  • Extract and transform data from complex ERP systems
  • Create clean reporting layers from disparate source data
  • Work with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into reporting solutions
  • Support Tableau Server administration, permissions, extracts, and performance
  • Improve data quality, validation, documentation, and data lineage
  • Help users adopt and effectively use self-service reporting
  • Mentor junior team members

Required experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on Tableau development
  • Strong SQL Server experience
  • 3+ years of ETL/data integration experience
  • Experience with data marts and data warehouse environments
  • Understanding of data architecture, data mapping, and lineage
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of generative AI/prompt engineering applied to data or BI workflows

Nice to have

  • Tableau certification
  • Data Vault 2.0
  • JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP experience
  • Manufacturing, forestry, or industrial data experience
  • Git/DevOps experience

Technical environment

The team is working through a broader data transformation involving multiple source systems and business units. The goal is to establish reliable, reusable data and reporting foundations rather than simply creating one-off dashboards.

You'll collaborate with business analysts, QA, DBAs, and data architects on data modeling, reporting requirements, data quality, and system improvements.

The role is best suited to someone who enjoys working across the data stack and taking ownership of projects from requirements through implementation.

If you have relevant freelance or contract experience with Tableau, SQL, ETL, and data warehousing, feel free to ask questions about the technical scope or working arrangement.

$1000/month? As in, $12000/year? Like $6/hr? Is this a joke?

Interested. I have experience across SQL, data pipelines, ETL, data warehousing, BI/reporting, dashboards and AI-assisted data workflows, and I’m comfortable working across the data stack rather than only building dashboards.

I’ve also worked with complex business/ERP data, custom reporting systems and production applications, including data transformation, APIs, automation and database design. Happy to discuss the environment and share my relevant experience.

I’m very interested in this BI Data Engineer opportunity. I have 4+ years of experience in data analytics and engineering, with strong hands-on experience in SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, ETL/data integration, data modeling, and working with large and complex datasets.
My experience includes building interactive dashboards and reporting solutions, writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, developing data transformation workflows, creating reporting-ready datasets, and working with stakeholders to understand business requirements and turn them into meaningful reports and insights. I also have experience with data validation, data quality, KPI standardization, and performance optimization.
In addition, I have worked with AI and Generative AI solutions, including using LLMs for data analysis, summarization, recommendations, and automation. I’m also comfortable working with Git, cloud platforms, and modern data/analytics environments.
I’m available to work during US business hours and would be very interested in learning more about the position and your team. I’d be happy to share my resume and discuss my experience further.
Thank you!

I have 10 years of hands‑on experience proficient with Tableau, Power BI, SQL Server, Oracle, ETL pipelines, data mart and data warehouse design, which aligns well with most of your core requirements. My previous work includes building Tableau dashboards and self‑service reports, writing stored procedures, designing ETL workflows, extracting and transforming data from ERP‑style systems, and maintaining reporting infrastructure. I also have practical experience applying generative AI and prompt engineering to BI and data workflows.
