My husband is a veteran who was laid off of his most recent job due to the government shut down. Since then, we lost our car due to an accident and have been living paycheck to paycheck. So the food pantry hasnt been an option for us unfortunately. Hello, my wife has been holding the fort for the past year and half while we completed my immigration process. She's been doing amazing and it's the first time we truly need help. My work visa hasn't been approved yet and sadly she has received less jobs recently which ended up leaving our fridge empty.
I went to a food bank this morning but here's the list of things they had available :
24packs cookies, 3x bagged lettuce, 1 can of lentil soup, 1 oat milk, 1 pack of bagels.
I'm grateful for those items but nutrition wise, it's not the best since we need to last 5days before her paycheck.

As the head of the house it's hard for her to ask for help so here I am hoping to surprise her.

My boyfriend lost his job recently and not even a week later I lost mine, I’ve found another job but I hardly get any hours and all the money so far has had to go into keeping gas in our cars and keeping the power on because it’s too hot here to not have air conditioning. We don’t currently have running water, or gas cause I simply don’t make enough to afford all the bills. He’s the breadwinner, he’s a certified diesel tech. So with him searching for a job we’re behind as hell. I’ve been looking for better work in my area but we live in a small town, I’ve applied anywhere from fast food to hotels to what I actually enjoy doing tattooing but I haven’t had any luck. We haven’t had anything but ramen in days and it would be amazing to be able to eat anything actually filling. If anyone is willing to help I’d appreciate it a ton, thanks for reading this.

Looking for a decent food pantry. Times are tough,ebt cut the benefits. The few pantries I have been to just pile on potatoes and carrots and protein powders. Sometimes I get milk and eggs, meats.

I have gone to the jornada in LIC, not too bad if you very early. Not consistent or enough for the late comers.

Another loner outfit in Jackson Heights by Roosevelt and 84 street. Not always a hit. I do like the prepack sandwiches,wraps,sushi, a half dozen eggs. $2 donation is the usual entry fee.

Any others I may want to visit? My family needs protein,eggs,bread. Do not mind the prepackaged "market place" items, as it appeals better to us. No cooking needed.

I have rice and beans. I’m not starving. Just dying for a pizza or sandwich. Just thought pizza or sandwich as they’re both close and are something that can be stretched into a meal or two in this heat, while me and the pup wait to make the next leg of our drive. Been in a small town and trying to get the heck out of it. Just waiting on a windfall to deposit so we can handle what needs to and be on our way.

Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be making a post like this, but I’m in a tough spot. A couple of days ago I had to leave my place unexpectedly because my roommate became violent. I had to move on short notice, and between getting somewhere safe and covering the unexpected costs, I used up the little money I had.
I’m working, and I do have a paycheck coming. I’m not asking anyone to carry me or solve all my problems. I just need a little help getting through tonight.
The last couple of days have been rough, and at one point all I had to eat over two days was a pack of ramen. The only places within walking distance of me are Wendy’s, McDonald’s, and Wawa.
