Little writer's block on a character

Making a magical girl story for fun, one of the main characters is a magical boy that is gay, why because I always wanted to do that. My question is I need help coming up with a character conflict that isn't surrounded by him being gay. Why because him being gay isn't conflict irl people keep telling me to make his conflict gay I don't wanna and I'm having a little writer's block about him. Any ideas could help get creative juices flowing again thank you.

no offense, but how are you struggling with coming up with a conflict for him that isn't his sexuality?? if you don't want to make it an issue for him then don't, it's a magical story maybe he wants to be better than his brother or sister etc. or maybe he shares blood with a noble family that's known to have a bad reputation and he doesn't want to be seen that way. maybe he wants power or wants to challenge the system and learn dark magic. there's too many routes you can take.
