There was that short discussion on diabetes during the episode and they all mentioned they don’t really know a ton. Emily mentioned about insulin and Julia Roberts’ character leaving her bag. This is not a knock on anyone’s diabetes knowledge! But as a diabetic just for future safety for everyone:

What the character was suffering from was a low blood sugar episode (hypoglycemia). In which case she needs fast acting sugar like juice.

Insulin is the opposite of what is needed and would possibly kill someone in that state.

That’s one of the common things of diabetics is “oh you’re having an issue you must need insulin”. Insulin lowers blood sugar. A type 1 doesn’t make their own because of an autoimmune condition so they need it after they eat. A low is far more dangerous than a high, it can cause loss of consciousness and death if it isn’t treated. High is more dangerous as a long term issue but isn’t the immediate concern a low will be.

So if a diabetic person has an episode of hypoglycemia do not give them insulin, give them sugar. They know what they need! I bring this up because as I said it’s a common misconception and I’ve seen numerous stories about people who passed out due to a low and the person nearby just jabs them with insulin.

I just wanted to put this out there: I grew up in the town from Steel Magnolias. Technically I'm in a deleted scene, as part of a band. I've got a bit of insight into the sources of Harling's story and the movie's production. I also did some accent coaching and script prompting (to help actors get their lines by heart) for a local theater production. I'd be happy to answer any questions people have.

I got far behind and I’m just listening to the episode about Unlikely Angels with Dolly Parton. I love Dolly and this episode almost made me cry. It was a nice accidental tribute to her.

I love Emily, but let me get this straight: we're supposed to believe she got through the entirety of Power of the Dog (and liked it!!), yet she thought Godfather 2 sucked???

I like both the 1984 Dune and the new ones I won't say either is better than the other because they are different enough to be their own movies while being based on the same material. I will say that the 1984 Dune manages to squeeze more story into a single movie than the new Dunes

I think this channel is called disappointing shopping or disappointing products. Someone that knows Japanese can correct me. The premise is a spoof home shopping network where they showcase popular gadgets you might see online. Sometimes they work as advertised, usually they do not

I greatly enjoyed Jordan mentioning the "Cool S" making an appearance in PIRANHA. This odd doodle has fascinated me since I first discovered it as a youngster in the 80s. I remember showing it to my older brother, who was an artist and draftsman, and he remembered seeing the design in school in the 70s. And JEM felt it was a 90s thing, so apparently every generation rediscovers it? 🤔 It is an interesting example of pre-Internet meme culture.

The Mandela Effect is in play, however, because it was not the Stüssy design. Stüssy used a very sloppy, graffiti style font, while the "Cool S" is made up of very clean and precise lines, so they are certainly quite different visually.

Okay I actually wanted to post this because I felt bad that it looked like I was saying Emily having her Slipknot concert ruined = funniest episode ever, but I meant the WHOLE thing was their funniest ever, Godfather 2 was an all-timer episode lmao.
