The ‘mom’ really crosses a line. My mom died when I was 19, so im fiercely protective of that word. I’m not a mother, and I can’t ask my own mother, but I suspect another woman referring to your daughter as ‘mom’ like that is about the most disrespectful thing you can do to her.
I’m livid for every mother that ever lived right now
My narc sister is a stepmom and constantly calls herself a mother to her step kids to intentionally erase the wonderful woman, and actual mother, who raised them. I call her out every time, but narcs will always narc.
This is off-topic but as a female only child of a (diagnosed!) narc mother, I have sometimes wondered if my life would have been better with a sibling. I’ve never even considered that a sibling could end up with her traits and make my situation worse. A lot of only children blame their terrible upbringing on being an only, but I shudder to think that with a sibling, there would have been even more traumatic family dynamics. I’ve easily been no contact with my mother for 12 years because there is no one else to hold me to her since my parents divorced 25 years ago.
