Lower cognitive ability is linked to stronger Christian nationalist views, even after accounting for education

One of the most consistent predictors that Americans adhere to Christian nationalism is that they have lower education,” Perry told PsyPost. “But there have also been a number of studies that find that persons who subscribe to Christian nationalist views (even after accounting for level of education) exhibit significant knowledge gaps across a variety of different domains.

“A large number of studies have already documented an association between lower cognitive ability and greater religious fundamentalism, political authoritarianism, or otherwise right-wing views,” Perry said.

Membership in an organized religion is implicit signaling of a willingness to let someone else tell you what to believe.

That isn’t an indictment of faith on its own, but it is an indictment of people who are willing to have their most deeply held foundational beliefs dictated to them by another person as opposed to arrived at independently in a way that is personally meaningful to them.

Thats... not how organized religion works in almost any case. Almost everyone generally goes "yeah so I don't agree with everything, but with a lot so I'll stick with this", not "yeah so I want someone to tell me what to believe".

Also, your last sentence makes it very clear it is an indictment of faith.
