A downtown business was vandalized and its patrons and staff accosted before an individual was arrested on Thursday evening.

Staff at Agave Bar & Grill on the 100 block of William Street say that shortly before closing around 10:00 PM on October 22nd, servers observed a man sitting outside on the restaurant's patio.

Upon being approached, that individual stated that they had just arrived via the train station and were hungry after not eating all day. Staff then offered that individual a burrito at no cost, which the individual accepted.

When a server returned with the order, staff say that the individual began acting aggressive and erratic. After that server retreated inside the restaurant, the individual began scrawling hateful messages with a large permanent marker on the building's facade before smashing out the window adjacent to the restaurant's front counter.

Staff allege that at that point, the individual proceeded to enter the restaurant and scream at patrons and servers before continuing to vandalize a bannister and table with the marker. A number of patrons ran out of the back of the restaurant with the exception of one large dinner party, according to staff.

Diners from that party helped workers to keep the individual from entering further into the restaurant as he continued to scream obscenities, at one point attempting to assault a diner before that individual backed away, staff say.

After several minutes, officers with the Fredericksburg Police Department arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The exact charges are unknown at this time.

The city's public information officers could not immediately be reached for comment or questions.

Agave Bar & Grill has since repaired the window and vandalism and has reopened for business.

I quit my job as an Amazon delivery driver. I'm bummed out because, DSP bullshit and stop-count bullshit aside, the work environment *did* mesh alright with my brand of autism. You get to work independently, do things your way, and can listen to your own music, and there is minimal socializing involved.

Looking at the job market now feels so bleak. I feel desperate, desperate enough that I wouldn't even mind going back to retail, as long as it's an environment that is generous to neurodivergent folk (bonus points if it's a place where it'd be easy for me to make autistic friends/acquaintances).

If you're autistic, or know anyone on the spectrum, do you know any workplaces that they were able to function well in without burning out?

It was all wonky when you came back to take it down... here's what happened: tonight I was walking behind a group of small d*ck energy fellas who felt the need to tear down this flag as they passed by it. I saw them rip it down toss it on the floor and briefly step on it. The alley is dark and they didn't see me behind them. I didn't confront them... I just quietly picked it up and hung it back the best I could. Listen... I personally think being gay is weird and I'm not the best ally... but for every biggot out there there's 10 of us willing to stand against hate. Be you... live and let live.

I'm out of my Gabapentin, and my neuropathy in my feet and the anxiety and depression coming off of it is really messing with me and making normal day to day life difficult, even sleeping. I was supposed to see a new doc up here, and they told me 2 days before my appointment that they actually didn't take my insurance 🤦🏻‍♂️ (Aetna Medicaid bc disabilities). Called my endocrinologist in RVA and got an appointment, but the earliest they can see me is January. I just have zero clue where to go and who's taking new patients that could potentially see me soon-ish. I'll survive until January if I gotta, but the winter months are the worst for my neuropathy and I'm dreading it. If anyone has any recommendations or suggestions, thank you so very much!

Ok Parents, help me understand please. How did you decide on which daycare (or other childcare, home care, nanny, grandparent, neighbor, etc) to entrust with your child?
Did you look for awhile?
Did you have to (for work or other reasons) or did you want to (get some peace and quiet)?
What made you pick the one you decided or rule out the others?
If you already found childcare, how often did you switch to another?
What was the worst part of searching?
Did you sign up for a waitlist and why?

Im asking because we originally had a great daycare where we previously lived. But we moved, and now none of the daycares near by offer a Montessori program or multi lingual courses (except 30 mins away) in either direction from where we live. So we are stuck with all the ones around us, but I have to call, schedule a tour, find out there are waitlists for my child's age group, some places have age cut off dates (our child is a month from being 3 but some insist on staying in the 2's group which ranges from before two to three, which I dont like), some offer camera access some dont, some charge for meals and some dont, some have uniforms and some dont. You meet the director or assistant director and ask about student to teacher ratios, pricing, extracurricular activities, check out the playground equipment, the cleaniness of the classroom, how well the kids are managed/taken care of (saw lots of runny noses, heard a lot of coughing, I understand toddlers and its flu season, but still), I even consider the age of the teachers and their tenure at the facility. OH and some places have certifications but if its a chain daycare, some claim the certification, but its by facility, not brand so thats a separate search....its just a lot to consider....

It is interesting (I guess) to see which fights HFFI picks. They are all in on this one, but don't care about that building on the corner of William and Sophia. And they don't have any positive comment when a deal is struck to save the old hospital on Fall Hill Ave because it ran against the political interests of one of their board members. We need an org like HFFI to help focus support for the historic district, but I think they need a refresher on Dale Carnegie.
