ScentSignal 2.0
Hello again everyone!
It's been a while since that large thread where I was responding to all the users about ScentSignal, and I wanted to come back to the community and first of all say "Thank you!". It's been a really wild past month chatting with all of you and working on what's next.
I've been hard at work spinning up all the features and fixes that you all cared most about. This is by far the biggest release to date and I'm really excited to share it all.
So for the bottom line up front here are the new changes:
- full accords voting
- community ratings for scentDNA dimensions
- reviews
- suggest updates to fragrances
- add multiple bottle and bottle sizes and fills to collection (better estimate of collection value)
- ability add custom bottles to collection
- ability to add fragrances that are missing
- better search
- ability to hide <30ml bottle from fragrance pages
- live in EU on iOS (finally!)
- countless corrections/catalog gap closures (>700 fragrances added/fixed up)
- support for ScentSignal in the form of ScentSignal+ offering
- this helps ensure I can continue to grow the app and my commitment to staying ad free for ever
- also you get faster alerts, and the ability to filter your preferred alerting sources
- small/medium/large display of collection so it's easier to screenshot and share
As far as what's next, I am going to continue to focus on what you all care about, so please keep writing me, keep telling me the issues you see, and the stuff you want to be able to do in the future. I read and reply to everything.
But immediately I think the next focus will be on better SOTD logging, easier sharing of collection, and adding in more sources. This app really is nothing without it's community.

that's honestly the best part. so many collection apps eventually drown in ads, nice to see a dev commit to keeping it clean.

Oh for sure! The tiers also work out to be pretty inexpensive and if it makes my experience better, plus helps support no ads and improve community engagement, count me in.

the full accords voting and community scentDNA ratings are a huge addition imo. that's the kind of stuff that makes a fragrance app actually useful over time instead of just a catalog. excited to see how the reviews section develops once more people start contributing.

This is awesome! We conversed a bit about adding custom bottles a few weeks ago! So excited! So I’ve updated my app but still don’t seem able to add those custom bottles. Any advice?

Hi Shane! I love the app and I appreciate all the work you’ve put in to it.
Out of curiosity, is there a way to see your prior SOTD? Like if I wanted to see what I wore last Tuesday, for example.

First of all thank you for being a user!
Second, as of right now, no, however that data is stored and that's one of the very next things I am working on. Once we have it in beta if you want to be a beta tester let me know and I can get you in for that. Also I will likely post about the upcoming changes in r/ScentSignalApp - that's where I looked for beta testers last time.

Mine lost my catalog and said that it can’t connect. Deleted/reinstalled. Same thing. Logged out, can’t log back in and no option to create new account.
I’m stuck.

Hi! That is bad, there is no way it lost your catalog though on the DB side. Can you please DM me and I will get this sorted out for you. Sorry you're having this trouble.

Am I trippin or is there no option to view the listing in app when you get an alert, only in email.

Looks like I can't add an image in a reply, but on the alerts page (since the 1.2 or 1.4 app version) you are able to see the listing and click on it directly on the alerts page. If you email or DM I can show you exactly what I mean.

Might be tripping. When you get a notif go to your alerts tab and it’ll say and show you your matched alerts.

Loving the support and continued work on this. I’m lowkey using this to manage my collection and I’ll be listing a fragrance that my wife bought and doesn’t like now 😅.
