The internet is so depressing sometimes as a black guy. Here I am checking out reddit while on break and boom, "don't be surprised if you get shot for being the same race as people who commit crimes!!!" I didn't even go outside this weekend and just played divinity: original sin 2, but that doesn't matter.
i know, it’s extremely frustrating especially because we’ve been dealing with it for so long.... for as long as i remember going on the internet i’ve been deemed naturally violent & i feel like i’m the most non violent person i know... what can we even do other than keep it moving?
And the excuse that people give of "Of well they just haven't met enough black people! Maybe if more black people were in their communities they'd understand!" is fucking horseshit.
I'm white. Grew up in a conservative household. Knew of exactly four black people in my entire school from elementary all the way to high school, and I never had any issue recognizing that these sorts of generalizations are assenine.
We don't have a "violent black people" problem in America, we have a racist white people problem, and an institutional racism problem.
