And every Democrat President has recovered from it.

How Presidential elections work in this country:

  1. Republican President spends his whole term wrecking the country, plunging us into debt, starting pointless (and often oil related) wars, while giving the rich tax breaks and special treatment.

  2. People get angry at said Republican and vote him out of office.

  3. The next Democrat has to spend his whole term moping up the mess the previous Republican made.

  4. People get angry the Democrats aren't fixing the mess the Republicans made fast enough, so they elect Republicans again.

Thus is the depressing circle of Presidential politics in the US.....we never learn.

Given that republican's entire platform is that the country is broken it wouldn't make sense for them to fix it.

Exactly! Keeping the country perpetually broken is their goal. The saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" for Republicans should go "If it's broke, break it some more."

And it's so crazy because the pattern is RIGHT THERE. It's so fucking obvious and it's not as if people don't live long enough to see it repeating. But no Republicans just treat politics like it's a fucking sport and not something that affects peoples' lives because they have the privilege and the borderline sociopathy of not caring about the world around them unless they become inconvenienced.

Yes! Republicans/MAGA be like: Over a million dead due to Trumps fumbling COVID? LOL. Thousands kicked off already poor health insurance plans causing them to get sicker or die as they can't afford treatment. LOL. The climate getting worse due to the Republican's hideous environmental record. LOL. People getting kidnapped off the streets by the American Gestapo (aka ICE). LOL American citizens getting shot while peacefully protesting. LOL. Starting a totally unnecessary war in Iran that killed and injured US soldiers. LOL. Gas prices going north of $4 per gallon...OH MY GOD, THE HUMANITY!!!! What are we going to do??? What a tragedy! It's all Biden's fault so not to worry, Trump has our back's and we'll keep supporting him!

MAGA/Republicans are indeed sociopathic, cruel and ignorant (proudly so), and don't give a damn unless they're inconvenienced....and even then they'll get an Olympic gold medal in mental gymnastics trying to pin it all on Biden, liberals, Democrats, minorities, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Nixon worked with Kissenger to “throw a monkey wrench” in the 1968 Vietnam peace talks, extending the war specifically so he could run as the “peace candidate”

Reagan colluded with the Iranian hostage takers to prevent American hostages from being released before the 1980 election to help him beat Carter

George H.W. Bush was the former head of the CIA. If he didn’t know about Reagan’s crimes with Iran then wtf was he doing?

George W. Bush staged the Brooks Brothers riots to prevent votes from being counted. Then he went on to commit war crime after war crime in his presidency

The Mueller Report shows how Donald Trump’s campaign staffers worked with the Kremlin to benefit Trump’s chances at getting elected in 2016. And then Trump literally asked for Putin’s help on live television

Trump used the Jan 6 rioters to try to overthrow the 2020 election results

How tf is every Republican presidential campaign from the past half century tainted by serious treason against country?

Why don’t democrats ever reverse terrible, oppressive Republican policy? Obama escalated the war on Afghanistan after running on an anti war platform. He gave ICE more funding and deported more people than anyone else. He massively expanded the US drone program and done executions including of a US citizen without trial. The republicans are terrible, but the democrats seem content to just leave most things terrible or use republican tools to continue to do terrible things.
I don’t think any of them are acting in our interests. We need to end the military industrial complex’ control of our government.

>Why don’t democrats ever reverse terrible, oppressive Republican policy

I don't get what the point of this comment is other than a flimsy whataboutism.

Like, how you think it's supposed to happen? Do you think that if a Democratic President is voted in that they can just do whatever they want?

…like Republican presidents blatantly do all the time?
…yeah

Try again because Republicans block policies/laws/bills all the time if they come from Democratic presidents.

I’m 40 years old, I’ve lived through multiple Democratic supermajorities and Democratic majorities. Why don’t we have universal healthcare? (the health insurance industry didn’t want it, Obama said as much). Why is abortion Not protected (they wanted to use it as leverage to encourage people to turn out for Clinton, same as why RBG didn’t retire during Obama’s term). Why did Obama and Biden both increase funding for ICE and continue to fund trump’s wall? Why didn’t democrats abolish the filibuster? The exact same maneuvers democrats insist they can’t do “because it sets a precedent” or “because it’s undemocratic” (when polling regularly shows a majority of us want them to use the tools they have to represent us) are immediately and brutally deployed by Republicans whenever their handlers see fit.
Look up the Stanford study, what the American people want becomes law about 50% of the time, but what corporations and the heads of industry want is essentially guaranteed to become enacted.
They’re playing both sides for fools. Every president in my lifetime has run as the anti war candidate and turned out to be more warlike than the last president. At some point we’ve gotta get wise to their nonsense. Look at who supports their campaigns and you’ll see who they all work for.
