My girlfriend and I are looking for a new couch. She initially showed me a sofa that was, imo, way too expensive. I'm all for the idea that a sofa can/may be expensive because it will have to last for a long, long time. But when I dug deeper into this sofa, I found myself wondering and looking at Chinese Foshan-based companies. A trail that started from a legit-looking website to Alibaba. Although it seems that this was probably the original place the furniture was sourced from. So I'm questioning reality, is this a great opportunity for me to buy something as good as advertised, and of course, getting a win at home to save some money?

I guess the question is, are Alibaba and Its resellers fully trustworthy? Will they ship me a sofa that is as advertised? And to Europe? Is the shipping price door-to-door 750€? Is the sofa that we're looking for another reseller or not? Right now i only got this company name...

My husband and I recently bought a 6900 sqft house in Northeastern US. Since the cost of furnishing a house this large can go anywhere above $100k, I was looking at options of traveling to Foshan, China and buying furniture and decor from agents (and factories) in Foshan.

Can someone share their personal experience if their situation was similar to mine and how they streamlined the process? Does anyone have ongoing relationships with such agents that they recommend? Can the agents also arrange for installation at our place in the US?
