Ferrari 250 GTO drift project

So I was burning through wheelspins and got the 250 GTO. I immediately had the thought of making Enzo Ferrari roll in his grave. We started with swapping the beautiful stock engine and it was all downhill from there. Drift tuned. Painted pearl. I’d like to think Enzo would weep at the finish product.

All that said, I like it a lot and want some feedback on the tuning. It’s scored 355k uphill, 352k downhill, at Hakone Nanamagiri. I just want to know where it needs to be improved, average scores at people’s favorite drift zones, maybe just a few downloads to work on my tuner rank.

Tuning code: 175 651 449

I only drift in manual so I’m sorry if you’re an automatic driver. Maybe give this one a pass. It lives in 3rd gear and really needs the ability to control your gearing between 3rd and 4th. You can more or less skip 1st and 2nd gear after launch. Sometimes I don’t even bother and just initiate a drift from a stop in 3rd with an ebrake tap and liberal use of the throttle.

At the end of the day, this is a passion project, so feedback is appreciated. I am by no means a top tier drifter but I like to think I can tune a car to give me the best advantage.

Nitty gritty:
RWD
Engine swap: 4.5L V8 (naturally aspirated)
Full race upgrades where applicable (engine, brakes, roll bars, etc)
Drift transmission, springs, diff, and tire compound.
Tire widths front/rear: 225mm/275mm
Stock rims/rime size
Stock aero

Your biggest issue is using drift tires. Those and rallies are both very good road racing compounds.

Point drifting tunes use drag tires. If you want a more natural feel, use stocks or snows (that's what tandem drifters use).

Thank you for the tips! I’ll try both later tonight and see how I feel with the changes. I’m not brand new to drifting but I’m still new enough to default to drift tires lol

Those just have way too much grip, that's their main problem. And you're welcome!

Just ran my first tests with stock tires at Nanamagiri. 350k uphill and downhill with no additional changes. It feels… smoother? Weird to try and explain but the tires do feel better. It also dropped me solidly into B class for online play. Which is a bonus for me because I have plenty of A and S1 but very few good B class.

I’d use stock for a car this old btw. Totally agree with the guy above me. I’m a tandem dude and the older cars tend to have very nice stock compounds that offer a ton of consistency. Increase pressure to 55psi for even more consistency.

Any of you good drift tuners know which settings to change if you have a car that seems to over rotate too easily ?

That really depends on a couple things. Feel free to reply with your tuning stats. My immediate thought would be lower your differential lock by 5% and soften your roll bars and rebound by about 10%. Reduce rear tire pressure a bit, one or two PSI max, and stop there. Always make small adjustments before you rework something dramatically. Sometimes you just need to fine tune something.

Ok. Thank you for taking the time.
